City Ordinance: No Smoking and Vaping in the City…Whoah?!?

It seems the City of Baguio is implementing a smoke-free ordinance. It is an ordinance that prohibits the selling of cigarettes or vapes within the city. Personally, it is a good thing to stop smokers to smoke or vape in public. But then, it is an extreme act for smokers to stop smoking or vaping abruptly. I am not sure if the city officials are aware that withdrawal from nicotine needs to be considered here. It would be nice if the city has the facility in catering the smokers’ withdrawal and provide nicotine patches in helping smokers to sober. ‘Do you think that it is humane to stop smokers to smoke or vape abruptly?’ Image Credit: images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com

The only way to stop smoking is "cold turkey", I think that this is a good move, because a smoker is a danger for many non smokers. I would have left an option to smoke only inside your home.

@Shavkat I would limit to "their homes", this to protect the non smoker a bit more seriously than what they do in our days.

@LadyDuck I am into your opinion. It is far better than before.

@Shavkat It should stop, coz even those who ate not smoking affected by the second hand smoking can kill.

@JustBhem I think you are right on this part. In reality, it would not be possible.

@Shavkat That is why we need to start it.

We have no smoking laws here. Most public places indicate where people can smoke as they know not everyone will quit just because it's against the law to smoke in public places. They can't smoke anywhere inside, but they can find a place outside to smoke.

My mother would not like that. I have been trying to get her to stop smoking for many years. She has been vaping now, but occasionally she still smokes. I would love for her to stop completely.

I am sure that these smokers will feel bad like your mom. I also wanted them to stop smoking but we cannot control them with this matter. It is the will to stop.

I can imagine those addicted to their smoking or vaping would find this extremely difficult to cope with.

I would be moving if I lived there and never return to the city if they banned it everywhere.

I personally think that you are getting my point about this concern. As for me, I think it is not right. It seems that the word 'freedom' is starting to be violated.

@Shavkat I agree, it's not like I am making a non smoker stand right next to me as I smoke.

@Shavkat Yep, and I hate being controlled.

There should be designated areas for smokers or vapers, that banning altogether won't work.

This is not a campaign to stop smoking or vaping. It's limited to public places. I think there's a designated place for smokers.

Maybe they just mean "stop smoking or vaping in the public places in the city" so you can still smoke or vape in your house
