Yesterday was a weekend and was supposed to be rest day for us but Friday evening when my son suddenly told us that he went to his school clinic to rest because he has slight fever. He was able to finished school and got home. Evening came and fever continued. Saturday came we were supposed to attend to a friend's party but because he still has fever we postponed it an decided to bring him to the hospital to check on his blood. We were worried that he might get Dengue fever since there is an ongoing epidemic on it. After checking his blood his doctor said it is negative yet since his platelets normal still. We were discharged. Today Sunday he is still recuperating and will go to his doctor tomorrow for follow up check up.

@rsa101 Close monitor is definitely important. Lots of liquids and keep him hydrated.

@RubyHawk That is really true. The doctor still suspects that it is flu virus that hit him hard this time. He still has fevers unfortunately but can manage to take care of himself. He is a brave young lad I guess just a bit grouchy because of his sickness.

@ShyBear88 yup and I hope that is what he got right now. Dengue fever is very common in our place right now that is why we took extra precaution on his case.

You still need to check him from time to time.
Dengue is a killer.
Just like what happened to my friend’s son, it was negative it first but then the fever goes on and off, until they have to check them again, 2nd time around the platelet goes down. Then later on they found her son has dengue. Right now there are still in the Hospital.

Better go to a higher quality hospital, this might be a case of wrong diagnosis, don't risk it by just paracetamol.

Oh I think it is working for now since he was fever free the last 18 hours. His doctor said that if he would have 24 hours then he is out of danger already. I think the paracetamol are working fine on him. If it's something serious there would be rashes by now but it is not showing up on him.

He just went to the doctor for follow up checkup and so far the symptoms for Dengue is still negative for now and is still diagnosed to be viral or simple flu infection. I just hope it stays like that so management can be much simpler and no complications. He just needs to outgrow the virus he has in his body.
