Winter is almost here, in my country. The nights get cooler each week. I will need to be ready for rains, some cold temperatures, mud and more. I decided to eat garlic cloves every day to strengthen my immune system, eat some lemon, it is also good. I will buy some warm clothes, fix my car's windshield wiper... Your take mylotters, how do you prepare for the winter?

@stringer321 We live in Connecticut. It gets below freezing here and it snows a lot. I can't stand it anymore. We leave the heat on and stop certain services. Our neighbors and our son keep an eye on the house when we are gone for 6 months and a day.

In the southern hemisphere, we're heading towards summer. We've been out burning leaves and rubbish to try to make our home safer from bushfires.

@JudyEv I will need a jet plane to come and live at your area and get back to work on time :-) living in a different part of the world is not possible now lol. I think you could just throw the leaves to the trash, maybe throw them into a recycling can to feed the ground. I hope you have nice temperatures and normal humidity.

I need a new winter jacket and pullovers as my winter clothes are getting small. I think I need winter boots, too.

@thelme55 I can assume 2 reasons for your clothes getting smaller:1) you get bigger 2) laundry shrinking clothes. If you gain some mass, it will help you dealing with cold temperatures, making you warmer and get cool down slower. If laundry shrinks your clothes, then you need to buy clothes that don't shrink. What about your car? What about your immune system ?

@thelme55 good for you, drinking oranges and cranberries is good. Do you have air conditioner in the car so you can evaporate the fog that stays on the front glass ?

@stringer321 I have gain weight this year. So I need new winter clothes. My immune system is fine as I am eating healthy food and drinking orange and cranberry juice. It is seldom that we have deep snow in our area so nothing to buy for the car.

@amitkokiladitya not really, in worst case I just wear some long comfortable warm cloths with under cloth, with more covers. I had to turn on the AC only once this year. Temperature drops down to maybe 10 degrees Celsius...

@youless thanks, so the FAQ at winter is a question about the temperature, less about humidity and rain, right? Any other things you need to get ready for?

It is not yet cold here in the south of Switzerland, the first cold day will start by November. We will have to switch to snow tires for the car, heat the house, war warmer clothing.

@LadyDuck no snow is known on my nose in my area. I just hope to stay with a dry and not red nose (not too dry though) and behold clouds and birds packs.

@stringer321 We only had a few inches of snow last year, but winter tires are mandatory here.

@birjudanak ola, my friend, so I just need to suffer the heat of summer. Then winter will feel good for me :-) That is a wise idea, to suffer the summer even more :-) An ole' story known by all is about my people who had a long journey at the desert for 40 days and nights. They sure welcomed the winter with joy I guess.

@paigea I hope you won't have problems this winter. I already deal with soar throat, snot...the garlic helps me. I had a herpes wound on my mouth angle, and it didn't grow. Only a tiny dot.

I got used to the burn, I crush the clove quickly with my teeth, trying not to spread the clove on the tongue. And swallow it as soon as I can.

@nela13 you can also cut a clove into some pieces, chew a little bit and drink with some water. Then go to sleep. Also, on an empty stomach, the nutrients are absorbed better.

We prepare by cleaning the heaters and getting our winter clothing out. I love garlic, but only use a lot of it when I feel I am about to get sick. I also use elderberry syrup and this other immune boasting product that the name escapses me and now I need to look for it in my notes so can prepare.

I do not like winter. It's the cold that I do not like. I get out warm clothing. Put, plastic on the windows of the house. I take a lot tumeric in the winter, it helps with inflammation.
