Can you keep a secret?

This post occurred to me not because someone recently betrayed my confidence. It occurred to me because I was doing a little speaker restoration work and realized that I am willing to reveal all of my woodworking secrets to anyone who will listen.
To get it right, one has to practice (my first efforts were good, but my later efforts are much better), so it's not as if I'm going to "lose business" if I reveal my secrets to other vintage audiophiles. I really just want to "pass it on" so restoring old wood speakers does not become another lost art.
But my mind wanders with my first cup of coffee, and I started thinking about my friends. Some are good at keeping secrets (my opinions about certain local musicians, things that happen at work) and others are not. I have to be selective in what I tell certain people, relative to others.
Are you good at keeping a secret? Do you have certain friends that you would not tell certain things to, knowing that the whole community would know what you told them within a month or two? I'd rate myself as being pretty good at keeping secrets.

Bensen32, were we twins separated at birth? I think I'm good with keeping secrets, but like you, often it's because I just forgot what was said.

@TheHorse A friend of MY HUSBAND, a few years ago decided to get married, he was no more young and he already had children. He asked to me for help for a simple ceremony and he asked me to "tell no one" what he was doing. Of course I said nothing. When he told to my husband this is my wife and my husband looked more than surprised he looked at me and said "congratulations! you are the only one who kept the secret".

I am very good at keeping secrets. It was not always that way but I learned to never betray a confidence. Secret knowledge helps in writing by interweaving several things together and coming up with something entirely new that no one would connect with anything.

I keep secrets to people that the thing must not be told, i usually tell my boyfriend stuff or things that happen that people tell me not to tell, but i think its pretty innocent because he has nothing to do with the info, not like he's gonna post it around or anything, but yeah im usually good at keeping secrets from the right people....samw with the stuff i say often, i know who to talk to and what to tell them...mostly when i know they're still gonna speak you know??? like i tell them with enough detail so i dont get bothered when someone else knows haha

I am good at keeping secrets. I would never divulge a confidence. And I am very careful what I share with people, even those I trust. What's important to me may not seem important to them so best not to say anything. I probably share more here than anywhere else.

I am pretty good at keeping secrets unless I know it is something that could be harmful to someone. But simple or personal secrets absolutely. I have secrets that I have kept of people who probably don't even remember me anymore haha

@TheHorse It did get me kicked out of a group in school because I broke the confidentiality rule, and the school counselor ended up disliking me the rest of my years there, but I did protect a friend from any future problems so I say it was worth it.

I have no one to keep secrets for but I have always been good at keeping secrets. Managed to totally surprise my mom with two surprise birthday parties and she never knew a thing while we still lived in NYC
