Tragedy Struck!

Yesterday morning, my new smartphone slid off my lap.
The new phone is extremely slippery and is constantly moving off whatever not quite level surface I place it on.
Generally everything is fine.
Not this time!
Multiple cracks across the screen. The battery fully charged at the moment of impact was down to 13 percent within an hour.
Turning off the phone and restarting, and charging the phone seem to have removed the power issue.
The screen? I'm hoping to make a couple of calls to a business in Abilene Texas to see if the screen can be replaced while I wait Friday evening or Saturday morning.
Wish me luck.

Do you have insurance on it? The screens can be fixed but then it voids your warranty. You need a case and screen protector on so that won't happen again once you get it fixed.

@Morleyhunt I bought my daughter a cell phone and I won't let her use it until the screen protector and protective case arrives.

Screen will be replaced in just over a week. A case will be waiting for me when I get home in mid October.

I'm hoping it can be repaired while I wait. If not I'll see if my nephew can maybe do it when I visit them in just over a week.

My nephew will try to replace the screen when I visit my sister in just over a week. I've also ordered a case. It will be waiting for me when I get home.
Tonight we are in Shamrock, Texas.

@Morleyhunt I am surprised that they didn't make it shatterproof.

Hopefully you can have it fixed quickly. My husband dropped his phone at work on Wednesday and it would have been fine except it got ran over. I had to take it yesterday to get the screen replaced.

I have someone who will attempt to repair it in just over a week. Travelling makes it a bit more difficult.
One lesson I've learned....my next phone will be an iPhone.

When I purchased the phone a month ago they had no cases in stock.
The store I stopped in at yesterday to buy a plastic cover for the screen (to hold it together) didn't have any cases either.
Hopefully I can get it fixed and get a case without spending a fortune.

Not a pleasant thing to happen. So did things get taken care of with the phone and did it get fixed again or did you have to find new one?
