Do you know what this is?

Coz I honestly didn’t. (Now I know, of course.) Please don’t laugh at me. It just shows how seldom I go to the veggie section. Lol It was on the on-sale display at the supermarket. I got curious so I picked it up and put it in my cart (after looking at it for a loooong time and still being clueless as to what it was). Lol Now thinking about it, I must have looked silly scrutinizing a harmless looking vegetable. Haha I’m not sure if it is sold in the palengkes or in big supermarkets in my home country. Care to tell me, kabayans? But seriously it was my first time to see (or notice) it uncooked. How about you? Do you like it? What dish can you make of it?

Asparagus! It is also grown in some farms here and sold at supermarkets. It is costly here. You can just cut it and steam it or put in some stir fried dishes.

Yes of course I know those are asparagus, they sell them by a Kilo here, I suppose they are expensive in your country. Here they are very common in mid Spring. We use them to make risotto, or simply steamed and served with melted butter and grated Parmesan cheese.

@sol_cee Asparagus by itself is expensive. Thus its soup dish will indeed be expensive in fine dining restaurants. But, it's a delicious and nutritious soup.

i 'dore asparagus, though such's no longer friends with my gut. i used to bake't with lemon juice, olive oil 'n garlic. sprinkle with some freshly grated parm the last 5 minutes. jest yummy! 'tis purty versatile. ya can pickle't, add to stir fries, soups, salads, eat the tender shoots raw. put such'n a casserole, many ways to prepare't fer side dishes. i'd a patch 'f such (comes back e'ery year) many years, 'til the severe drought came. loved pickin' such'n the early morn, munchin' the tender new shoots 's my breakfast, lol.

Asparagus used to grow 'Volunteer' alongside the steps to our front door in North Dakota, every year..! My mom would harvest them multiple times during the summer months... We also had a Raspberry bush in the backyard that produced great fruit every year...
