In the Good Old Days

In the good old days in Ancient myLot I had to learn many lessons in difficult ways. For instance, I did not believe you earned from responses and comments.
I had to eventually run some experiments to prove to myself that AT THAT TIME you earned by responding and commenting as well as posting discussions. "You type, you earn"
I was reminded of that because a friend here is bringing up some of my old ones, and they are "naked". I never interacted on them at all. That is a shame.
DISCLAIMER HERE : We now earn from interactions. . . from how others respond to our posts, comments and responses. "Others type, I earn" is the way we earn now. We can throw posts up all day, and if no one responds and comments on them we do not earn a cent.
"How do you get people to interact with you?" you might ask. You interact with them. If you read something interesting, say something. Be here! Enter into discussions. People will come looking for you if they know you are responsive.
So that is my reminiscence about how I learned to participate and therefore, earn.
It is verrrrrrry early in the morning. I woke up and could not go back to sleep. So I came by here to see what was going on. I am going to go back to bed for a while now. Good night.

@Writingghost NO, I have not said that those who do not understand are rude. I said that those who never reply back to the comments are rude. If someone comment under one of your post, the least you can do is to reply to the comment.

@LadyDuck OH, I understand now. I thought you said they didn't they should reply and then I wondered if I was not suppose to reply. I guess between people talking about old and new I don't know what to do.

I am confused about what you just said. Did you just say that people who don't understand how it works are rude? I hope I misunderstood. Because if they are afraid to do something maybe they just need to be educated, like me. I really don't get how it all works.

This is mostly because I am embarrassed to see a discussion of mine where I never responded to anyone. At that time I must have appeared very self centered. I am sharing now that we should all be responsive.

@GardenGerty I sometimes go back to my previous discussion to check if I missed liking/ commenting anyone's reply.

I tend not to post too often, but I like responding to others' posts--but I do notice a difference in earnings when I tend to post more often--

@Writingghost Exactly. Just keep up a conversation like you would in person.

I try not to put up more posts than I will have time to respond to. Some people very rarely post. I like to put one or two up per day.

So is the goal to respond as long as you have something worthwhile to say?

@Writingghost She is the one who keeps going back to my old posts and leaving lots of comments. That is when I got embarrassed. She found some that are so old I never even interacted.

Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you it's just a way to add a few pennies to my pot and get to read some interesting thoughts of days of old @GardenGerty

Okay so you are going back to your old posts and reviving the conversations. (Not that I have any old posts - I am new here - but that is interesting.

I've just returned after many, many months of being inactive on this site. Funny that things don't change much - there are still so many members who don't get (and I suppose don't bother to find out) how earnings actually work.

@Writingghost I hardly think so--I just think mylot has changed things here from time to time--

@Writingghost If you mean the algorithm, then I guess most of us don't "get" it. But anyone who cares enough to read the FAQ and guideline sections would at least understand how earnings basically work - participation and interaction.

I talk to a lot of mylotters on here that use this site as one of their only sources of income. I try to tell them that the key to earning here is to keep a conversation going. I think that is the simplest way of explaining it now. Just ask questions, make thoughtful remarks. Try to keep a conversation going for as long as you can, but don't ever force it.
Quality is also key but that is one word that has many different meanings depending on who you ask.

I think you summed it up nicely. In countries other than the US that money means a lot to people.

@GardenGerty I end up talking to a lot of them as well, mainly because I expressed that I would always try to respond to what they say. I've noticed that they also try to ask questions and keep things going, unlike some other users that come and go.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yeah trying to keep up the conversation is the crux of this interface.

If I see something that someone posted way back when and it is interesting to me I go into it. I was not here way back when so do not know how things went. I am here now and do try to comment on others. Thanks for the advice. Have a good nap and thank you for your post.

Sometimes I see things in the sidebar that I like, but then find they are removed or something. It is fun just to go where your interests take you.

You just may not be here at the same time of day as people who might respond to you. Or your new posts get buried by people who are serial posters.

@GardenGerty I think we should make a list of mylot users who just keep on posting discussions and never comment on others' discussions or even their own discussions.

Your post helps me review Mylot's regulations on how to earn.Practically speaking,I am still not really clear how that works .

It serves as another stark reminder for everyone to go back through their older discussions and see if there are comments left unliked or not responded to. When I go back through mine I always find something I missed. Besides, I like reading older posts. Not just mine. But from others as well. There is a goldmine sitting, waiting for us to find it and cash in. Granted, it's not just about the money. But why leave money sitting on the table?

Hey thanks for highlighting these. I have seen some mylotters just post discussions, and even if I commnet , they don't like back the comment . I find it really rude because that's basic right? I am helping you to earn, you should help too by liking or commenting back.
Anyways have a good day.

This is a discussion sight, and to make a discussion you have to participate. I know in the past I have missed responding to some, but I try to do much better now.
