How to stop all annoying calls?

Is there really a way to stop all annoying calls? I didn't know that it would be so easy. So far it is going well. I haven't received any unwanted calls in a week.
It was getting ridiculous. I was getting calls from Congo in the middle of the night. I thought of getting rid of the phone all-together but we can't really do that.
I called my phone company and they told me what to do. We can block all phone numbers that are not on our contact list. The rest go straight to mail box without ringing.
Wow! What a relief!
How to do it? 1) Settings 2) Blocking mode 3) Block incoming calls 4) Always 5) Allowed contacts

I no longer have a landline. This is on my cell. I didn't even know the feature was here until I called my provider to complain. I was ready to pull my hair out when I started getting calls in the middle of the night. I could have turned the ringer off but I didn't want to miss any emergency calls from my family.

@akalinus I have done that too but usually I like to get the important calls quickly.
I just got a call from my myLot friend in Sweden and the call came through with no problem. I am really loving this feature!

@1hopefulman I turn the ringer off during the day. Message picks up for people who have something to say.

Is this on a cellular phone?
I have blocked some numbers but did not know there was a way to block all of them.
I do not get many calls like this, however.

Yes, on my cell! I don't have to block anyone anymore. If they are not on my contact list, all others go straight to mailbox and if anyone really wants to leave a message, they can and I can call back later. Peace at last!

Well, it has worked well so far and I haven't had one unwanted call. I don't think they can get around it but time will tell.

Yes from Congo and every number was sightly different. Now they are all blocked. I have blocked the whole world of annoying calls.

If incoming calls are coming from your known person and if you don't want to talk to them you can block them but if calls are coming from clients and if your phone is from company then you should inform your reporting head or HR so that they can take action on those annoying calls

This is my cell phone that I was talking about and not a work phone. I got really frustrated when I started getting calls during the night when I was sleeping.

They weren't bad call but they were disturbing when they started to call during the night. So far, not one annoying call!

@JudyEv That's good! Here it is now getting horrible. I'm glad I discovered that feature which has made my life peaceful. I haven't had on in days, either day or night.

If her phone has that feature it will bring peace back into her life. I haven't had one annoying call since I was told about the feature.

Yes, I've been using the block that number option. Or if I answer I'll say who's calling instead of hello, a trigger for automated calls and telemarketers too. And by using that phrase telemarketers have to identify themselves and then you just hang up on them. With caller Id there is no reason to answer unknown calls. If the caller really needs to contact you they would leave a message.

The problem was that they were starting to call in the middle of the night and from Congo as they are awake there when I am sleeping. Since I turned on that feature I have not had one unwanted call.

Maybe your phone has the same feature I have where you can let everyone that is not on your contact list go straight to voicemail without ringing where they can leave a message.

Yes, but these days they have machines that just call to annoy people. I was getting one call where a recorded message would just speak Chinese. Something had to be done!
