Chief cook and bottle washer means someone who performs routine tasks in the house.
I have always been the chief cook and bottle washer in my house. I was even more so when I was a stay at home mom, although my husband always pitched in.
He helped even more when I decided to return to my career.
Now that I’m retired, my husband still helps out and has taken over the role of chief cook and bottle washer. He does it with love.
Our boys are the same way. As proof, my photo shows one of the chocolate chip cookies our younger son perfected over the years - crisp on the outside and moist and chewy on the inside. I have an entire container to eat!
Now to fold my second load of laundry.

I have been the chief cook and bottle washer. But I am glad that my family pitches one for all kinds of help and they have their share of chores. We love to cook and kitchen is a great bonding place for us.

@arunima25 That’s great, and I know your husband isn’t around much. He probably leaves to get away from helping out.

@DianneN Yes girls are a big help. They manage well with their share of chores. Husband also likes to help around but he is not much around.

Until recently I have been the chief cook and bottle washer. Now that my daughter is living with me she has taken over a lot of the tasks for which I'm grateful. I hate to admit it but she's "almost" a better cook than I am
It's great when guys pitch in to he!p and it certainly looks like your son has mastered cookie baking and shared his creations with you!

Now that I can't do much, my husband is the chief cook and bottle washer...and we now have our little housekeeper.

@DianneN I don't know what will happen when my husband can no longer get around. I try not to think about that.

Mmm, looks sooo good and it's just the way I like it but with nuts. I'm the only person at home so I do everything. But, this Sun. I did some ladder things, washing curtains, change light bulbs, new battery for smoke alarm, putting back up the curtains climbing to clean my screens and windows...my knee hurts now. I'm glad I learned some exercise from my doctor recently and it helped. I'm going to the chiropractor tomorrow so it's going to be alright. So kind of your husband to help you out!

Thanks, and she will be able to help me. My physician gave me some exercises for stiff joints and it works too. My right leg has been giving me some trepidation so that's why I'm going to the chiropractor. I got the benefit just this month and was very happy about it for I know a chiropractor helps.
