My injured foot swelled up, my temperature rose sharply, and the doctor has confirmed that what I had warned him about actually happened - the wound has become infected. Now I'm on antibiotics, but the problem with that is that antibiotics usually run right through me and I don't get the full benefit of them. So I'm suffering and feel quite miserable. It's not pleasant having a fever in paradise. I know that going down to Madeleine's beach bar would not be a sensible thing to do, and alcohol mixes badly with antibiotics, so I'll sit on the veranda wrapped in a blanket and watch next door's chickens scratching in the dirt.
