Bird Feeder Was Empty This Morning

Glad to see the birds are visiting the peanuts in the bird feeder. I just filled it up yesterday and all gone today. I hear the blue jays announcing their arrival. They are beautiful but very loud. I need to get sunflower seeds to mix with the peanuts. Now I wonder if mabye the cardinals are also visiting. You rarely hear their soft sound and they come first thing in the morning and late evening. Maybe I am missing them for some reason. A photo of a male cardinal from last winter at the deck feeder. I will keep a closer look out as I love seeing the cardinals. Have a good day everyone.

That's a perfect cardinal shot. They will rely on you to keep them fed when the snow arrives...If you get any.

@LindaOHio Yes sometimes, maybe Monday or Tuesday. Heavy snow is rare but light flakes and some ice are not uncommon.

Cardinals love peanuts as do the Blue Jays. I've noticed Cardinals don't like to mix with other birds at my feeder and will show up when they can have the food all to themselves. I always see them at dusk when all the other birds have left. My nickname for them is the "night crew."

Yes, I feed them all during the winter but this year I am keeping the feeder away from the house due to the critters. Cardinals like to be by themselves. Like I said, I see them early and late. When it is very cold I will see them once in a while during the day.

I could not put anything like that in my bird feeder...the squirrels would get them all..Sunflower seeds too. Even bears are into bird feeders..no confirmed sightings in this development, but they are around.

I never see squirrels. My fence keeps out wild animals.

That's lovely photo you got of the cardinal. And yes, you do have to keep alert when it comes to catching birds.

They can be hearty eaters. We keep filling and refilling our bird feeders for our hungry little birds.

We don't have feeders, but I love seeing all the different birds when we toss out seeds and such on the group. So cute seeing them peck around
