I got a phone call and a message on FB yesterday. Well, the message was Sunday, but I didn't see it until yesterday. It was a shock, to say the least. My sister called yesterday afternoon to let me know our cousin passed on Friday. The funeral is on Thursday. This means, I won't be here most of the day and will get almost no writing done. It also means I won't be in the pool on Friday morning. The funeral is three hours south of me in Illinois. My cousin lived just across the border from Wisconsin. It's also at 7:30 p.m. The showing starts at 3:30. I'll be going with my sister. They're driving, which is good. I'll also be spending the night at my sister's since I don't drive at night with my cataracts as bad as they are. But not bad enough yet for surgery. We won't get back to her place until around midnight, which is why I'm not driving the extra hour home to Green Bay. As children we were close. They lived here in Green Bay, and we did everything together when we visited Grandma and Grandpa who lived around the corner from them. We became distant as adults with our own lives. We were close in age. She was 9 months older than me. She was far too young to die. It's a sad loss for the family. Death is part of life, the sad part. Thanks for reading.
