Do you know someone that has no problems? What about you? Are you free of problems? Is it possible to be happy despite a truckload of problems? Can one still have a measure of happiness, despite having problems and difficulties? What do you think?

I really admire Michael J. Fox as a great example. Maybe you can think of other examples of people succeeding in life despite serious challenges?
ET was exclusively invited to talk with Fox and his wife, Tracy Pollan, inside their New York home. Exclusives from #ETonline : https://www.youtube.com/playl...

Problems make us stronger. No matter how wealthy a person is, he or she cannot escape problem in any forms. Problems come and go they won't stay for many days unless no solution seen except to end everything which is wrong. So many ended six feet below the ground for they cannot cope with their problems. They are so pitiful. They lack communication with family or even with peers. In my case, I am always rock with problems, problems not mine but from other family members. I may be having a problem but just petty problem unlike my other family members almost perennial problems. The root cause of problem is financial or emotional.

Yes, problems can make us stronger if we face them with the right attitude. I always remember the saying that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. My conclusion is that a good relationship with God is vital in dealing with serious challenges and maintaining a measure of happiness.

The fact that Michael had a loving wife was vital to his dealing with his challenges. What has helped me is having a good relationship with my Heavenly Father. When others abandoned me, He never did.

@cacay1 Yes, I have come across many that continued to be happy in life despite incredible challenges. Christopher Reeve that played Superman was also a good example. I have found God's help very important in dealing with my challenges.

Concentrating on positive things may help a lot..it also helps to eat foods with good bacteria, as lactic acid bacteria can help our brain and make us feel happier..

Yes, a positive attitude and a healthy diet can help a lot. I have found that a good relationship with our Creator of primary importance. That is what helped Job continue in spite of great challenges.

@buenavida Encouraging?
It did work out all right for Job in the end, but what about the enormous causalities on the way, whose lives were seemingly treated as cannon fodder to Job's life.
It was a test for Job, but how was it also a test for his children to be all killed too?

Yes, encouraging words are helpful but sometimes we don't get that from family and friends but we can always find encouraging words from reading the Bible. If God is with us then who can be against us.

@db20747 It is very sad but not many of us get encouraging words. We do get a lot of discouraging words though. Little wonder that there is so much depression.

I don't know any person who is happy with a problem to face. But in the Bible, it's Job I know that he overcame the greatest problems in his life and felt happy about it for he knows that his Redeemer lives.

I don't know anybody who doesn't have one, Even very young kids have problems sometimes like when they're not allowed to play or do the things they like and they would think it's the end of the world!
There are times when my problems are not that complicated, then I can still be happy and just let the time take its toll. I had once a problem that actually made me depressed for a week but I tried so hard to overcome that depression by asking my son to stay by my side all the time. When I'm depressed, I don't ever want to be alone.

I don't know anyone who doesn't have problems. I don't look at my problems as problems but opportunities. When I give my problems to God, they vanish and I'm left with a testimony of God's goodness to me. In my weakness, He is strong.

"The way to be truly happy is to be truly human, and the way to be truly human is to be truly Godly."
J.I. Packer, an English-born Canadian evangelical theologian said this, and currently, at 93 years young, he seems to be both Godly, and happy.
Proverbs, chapter 16, verse 20, from the Old Testament, of the Christian Bible says this:
"He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he."
Can we expect to be always happy then in serving God?
Happiness depends on its foundation stone of love to be in place, otherwise, it sits on sand, and just about anything can then wash it away from our life.
We should always strive to love as God loves, and then we will always be happy in the loving.

If we love fully, we are usually happy too.

So, love maximizes happiness and minimizes problems. So, love turns mountains into molehills.

Yes, it is no easy dealing with problems but there are others things in life beside problems so we can't give all our focus to problems.

@nela13 Yes, there may be periods where we have to focus on some serious problems. Even then, we need to remember that we can turn to God in prayer for wisdom and support.

I think everyone has struggles. It's part of life. How you deal with them has a lot to do with one's happiness. Attitude and acceptance are major factors which contribute toward one's happiness...

That's what I was thinking! We can't sop problems from coming our way but our attitude towards them can keep us sane.

@1hopefulman Seems we are on the same "wavelength" on finding happiness when our day to day life becomes a struggle I also admire the marriage of Michael Fox and his spouse. Now that's the meaning of "partnership."
