First, I want to thank my dear friends who have offered condolences and solace on the loss of our beloved Doodles the cat. I especially want to thank those of you (and you know who you are), who have sent me messages and checked in with me very often since my last post.
Secondly, I tried my best to myLot, but couldn’t concentrate. I still can’t. I’m so sorry. I don’t know how I will manage to catch up, but I will try.
The mobile vet came to our house last Tuesday, November 12th to euthanize poor Doodles, who was suffering from intestinal cancer. It was time. He had been moaning and groaning, barely ate, and slept most of the time. He managed to go outside his last few days, sat in the warm sunshine, took a final walk around our yard, and even saw a few chipmunks. Our son held him when the vet gave him a sedative and held Doodles while he looked at the birds outside our windows. We were told that he may vomit, and he did spit up. We laid him on a blanket and kissed him and thanked him for bringing such joy into our lives as he received his final injection. I watched the breath leave him forever.
He was buried immediately in a coffin my husband built wrapped in his favorite blanket with his stuffed animals, Mr. Goosie and Mr. Baby, next to his sister, Kuma, in my rock garden, which they both loved. A headstone marks each kitty’s location.
Imagine my surprise when two days later I discovered the imprints that suddenly occurred on the headstones. Doodles has an image of himself, but I found this image on his sister’s headstone, which had been smooth since its placement last year. I tried to outline it in my photo. Doodles is with Kuma in Heaven and has his paw around her. Neither are alone anymore, but we are.
We miss him so much.

That's why I couldn't see you here since last week. I came back to Mylot last week and each time I visit the tab for people I'm following I've been checking if you have a recent post but there's none. I am so sorry about Doodles, I was away and I didn't know. I can imagine your pain and it's something that I cannot imagine having when the time comes for me too say goodbye to Danie because I know in the future that's going to happen. I know how much you're missing Doodles and it's really depressing.
But he was in pain and he's in a much better place now. He will always have a special place in your heart. Danie says condolence.

I've been thinking about you all week since you shared your sad news about Doodles. It's nice that you have both Kuma and Doodles in your rock garden where you can visit.
My heart goes out to you

i knew what day it would be and knew it would take a while for you to drop by but thanks for letting us know how it went.
i remember how tiny mr. goosie was and his colorful polka dot blanket.
it must be so hard for your son to lose both cats, but it's great that they were able to spend time together while you were in florida.

@hereandthere Yes, that, too. He’s waiting for her response to the settlement and then he will be free. And much happier. Thank heavens we were here to see him through this. Hopefully, he will be free to visit us in Florida now.

Awww, thank you. I’m so glad you remember Mr. Goosie. As it turned out, Doodles had a blue plaid blanket, too, just as his sister had. They were each lovingly wrapped in those blankets by the vet. Doodles especially needed the larger blanket.
Our son is devastated. He’s had a horrible year. All three of us hugged and cried together over our losses. Life goes on, but we must grieve.

Hello Dianne, I missed this post, I have not been online a lot this week. I was sure of the reason why you were not online. I am so sorry, our beloved Doodles has gone, he is now playing with Kuma, I am sure they are happy, but I know how much you are suffering.

Still praying as you go through this time of sorrow in the coming days and as you come home to Florida knowing Doodles will not be there when you go back. Seeing the photo almost makes me want to get some black paint and fil in the iages and add a rainbow above them.

Thank you so much. We are thankful that all this happened while we were here in CT to support our son and each other. I told my husband how I couldn’t wait to return to see Doodles every year we were in Florida. It breaks my heart that I will never see him again. He brought me such joy.
I still can’t believe how he suddenly appeared on Kuma’s headstone along with her. I look at it every day now. It’s amazing! I love your rainbow idea.

I'm so sorry. YOu really did the right thing for him. Painful, but still the right thing. I think the symbol you outlined is a sign.
Don't worry about catching up, just write as it feels right - we all understand
hugs
