All thru the year. Here's an all season dessert! Try a warm snack or dessert on a cold day! CROCKPOT BANANA BREAD ===================== (Makes 4 to 6 servings) Ingredients: ------------ 1 3/4 cup flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/3 cup shortening 2/3 cup sugar 2 eggs, well beaten 1 1/2 cups well mashed, overripe banana (2 or 3 bananas) 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional) Instructions: ------------- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. With the electric beater on low, fluff the shortening in a small bowl, until soft and creamy. Add the sugar gradually. Beat in the eggs in a slow stream. With a fork, beat in 1/3 of the flour mixture, 1/2 the bananas another 1/3 of the flour mixture, the rest of the bananas then the last of the flour mixture. Fold in the walnuts (optional). Turn into a greased and floured baking unit or a 2 1/2 quart mold and cover. Place on a rack in the slow cooker. Cover the cooker, but prop the lid open with a toothpick or a twist of foil to let the excess steam excape. Cook on high for 4 to 6 hours. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes. Serve Warm.

I use mine a lot, especially for roasts, chili, soups, and stews. Sometimes I cook dried beans in it too. I love the fact that you can have dinner waiting for you in the evening. Also, it creates less mess to clean up. Anything to make life easier, I'm all for.

crockpot - there are a hanful of makers and myriad of styles of slow cooker, crockpot, and whatever others call it. A container with a lid and heating element the power of a light bulb or two to cooks a dinner with a minimum of fuss
don't use mine enough, try to at least a time or two a week. Is it a normal feature to have it cook then hold your food on warm?

I love my crockpot. I can put everything together in it in the morning and when I get home from work I lift the lid and see how it is coming along and stir it then back goes the lid and I let it finish up. I think that is the best thing that anyone ever came up with. I am tired when I come home from work and all I have to do is sit back and let the crock pot do it's magic. I raise a big thumbs up to crockpots!
