Starting on the Christmas books now

This morning I laid in bed awake for a half hour and kept hearing the dog pacing and quietly whining. I didn’t want to get up and wake up my son but by 9am I couldn’t stand laying there any longer and got up.
When I got downstairs I started laughing seeing my son was already awake and I was so tired I didn’t even hear him get up.
Every year in December I read Christmas themed books. I just finished reading “Silence of the Lambs” by Thomas Harris. Since tomorrow is December 1st I went down in the cellar and dug out a Christmas book out of the decoration totes.
This book is called “A Log Cabin Christmas Collection” with historical romances stories by 9 different authors. I’m not a fan of reading collections but it was the only book in that particular tote that I could get to. A cousin of mine gave it to me a few months ago. It was his late wife’s.
A little good news is I received a $5 Amazon e-gift card from Crowdtap.
Photo is of the book I am reading.

@dfollin I believe it is a religious book. I am not a fan of them but some are okay. I hope when I get the rest of the Christmas decorations out today that there are more Christmas books. This one is so thick and I don't take time to read very often that I hope I finish it before Christmas.

I'll be re-reading John Grisham's Skipping Christmas later today, if I ever get off the computer.

@BarbaraPrz online everything I do earns money or gift cards etc. Reading makes me feel unproductive which leads to guilt.

@Tina30219 I rather have some nice yummy warm coffee but it makes my face break out so I've been drinking iced tea in the morning.

@CRK109 it does help to get in the holiday spirit. Any books I don't get to I pack away until the next Christmas. I have about 7 in the pile I can read. I hope to knock off a few of them by Christmas so I won't have to pack them away again.

@snowy22315 I won't start reading Christmas books before December first and I won't start a new Christmas book after the 25th. I have 24 days to read 8 books. Whatever I don't get to I'll pack away for next year.

I am not a big fan of collection books either, but I have one or two of them.
Yay for the $5 gift card. I do read some Christmas themed stuff, but so far this year I haven't much been in the mood for one.
It was snowing in one scene of the book I am reading now though, I guess that counts?

@ScribbledAdNauseum if I go somewhere there are free books and I see a collection I won’t take it. This was dropped off at my house in a huge box of books. I donated most but kept a few others.
I love reading Christmas books at Christmas time. Maybe before Christmas you will want to read one. If not that’s fine too.

@ScribbledAdNauseum we have a lot of little free libraries around here. My nieces grandmother passes her books on to me and I pass mine to her. Our library discards and gives the books away often.

@shaggin The "free" books at the thrift store I go to are usually full of manuals, but I think I've spotted a fiction collection a time or two. There are sometimes gems in there. I suppose a more cunning eye would nab some up and sale them to the collector on ebay.
Yes, we shall see as the month goes on whether I will want to read Christmas books or not.

Do you remember how the women's magazines used to have short Christmas stories in them? Years ago my Mom gave me a book of Christmas stories and every year we read some of them together again. Final note: I write my own Christmas short stories. I've done this for several years now. I snail mail them to about 25 friends.

@Courtlynn I’m a few chapters in and enjoying it. It’s really thick so it will take me awhile to get through it.

@Butterfingers I like to read books set in simpler times now and then.
