I have decided to become homeless.

Civilized life is too complicated. Maintaining medical insurance is difficult. Dealing with the IRS is difficult, even if you're honest and always operate in good faith.
I got fired once because I wouldn't sleep with my boss, who reminded me of the "fat lady" in one of my favorite movies, Seven Beauties. I bet most Americans don't even know this movie.
I know how to clean headlights with a cleaner that comes from the Dollar Tree. That is how I will make my money. To heck with teaching college, working with disadvantaged children, and writing a book.
Will I continue to have internet? I don't know. I hope I can have a guitar with me.

Pluck your guitar, set out your hat and collect tax free cash.

@JohnRoberts Hmm. It (my guitar playing) can be a bit rough around the edges at times.

@TheHorse Not in California! The homeless are "protected." Unless your guitar playing is that bad........

Yes I saw some of your videos. They were good.
My wife also has a YouTube channel but we need to get many more subscribers and views.

Civilized life is more than complicated. Three days ago I had a minor accident. A bandage for my toe costed me one fourth of my monthly retirement budget.

@TheHorse Yes there are plenty of homeless in India but they are because they cant afford to own or rent a home but live on footpaths or wherever they find a place to live in. There are very few shelter homes and that too in a very few cities. There are no homeless in India that do it for the sake of being homeless. I hope you understand what I mean!

@wolfgirl569 Heh. I should have done that with my pocket knife when I went to the Rose Bowl. I forgot I had it, and they took it from me.

Isn't homelessness in California all the rage these days? That's all we seem to hear about on the news. Either California is on fire, or everybody is becoming homeless because the cost of living is too high.

You should move to Alaska and live in the wild.

@andriaperry I've thought of that! I'd have to put insulation in for the Winter.

We used to do that in Santa Barbara when I was a Graduate Student. Irish music brought in big bucks. German tourists (yes, @Maluse) were the best tippers. I discovered Thai food by playing Irish music with my American friends.

@florelway It would be interesting to see how long I could survive off of the McDonalds $1 meals.

It does seem like civilized life is complicated. There is always some expense from car repairs, to appliances breaking down and needing to be replaced etc.

Don't become homeless. It's too hard. Stay with your teaching job, work with the children that need you, write your book and play your guitar...and continue to be online with us! :-)

Move to the Aleutian Islands and live off the Grid. You can serenade the wildlife.
