More entertainment out our window

It was incredibly hot here yesterday and today is going to be just as bad if not worse. My brother-in-law and his wife arrived with their caravan in the morning. They are on their way home from a short vacation. We spent the day inside with the curtains drawn to keep out the heat.
Just before dusk we looked out the window to see two buck kangaroos engaging in a very serious fight. Vince and I ran for our cameras. I took a video of the latter part of the fight but I need to try to edit it. For the moment, here are four of the photos that Vince took.
Then fighting the bucks hold each other at arms’ length and attempt to scratch the eyes of his opponent. You can also see them balancing on their tails and bringing their hind legs up to try to disembowel the other. We don’t often see this happening. I don’t know how long they’d been fighting before we saw them.
In the top photo, the one on the left seems to have lost some fur on his side. Notice how far back one has tipped his head. The bigger one got the advantage and they both hopped off.

That must have been a friendly fight or was it?

@JudyEv Did you not chase them away then? If we see two tom cats fighting we chase them away as they are bound to hurt each other.

@allknowing There wasn't much point. They'll continue their fight somewhere else until one gives in to the other.

Wow, thank you for posting. It's really interesting for me to hear of first account stories of wildlife especially the kangaroo which is a unique animal.

I'm sure that's true but not many places would get to those heights. I rang a friend near the south coast and my sister a bit north of Perth and inland and they'd had temps of 43C - which is still way too hot. We are visiting my sister this weekend so I hope it cools off a bit by then.

Hi Judy. They can be quite lethal with their very strong paws and hind legs. I hope neither were too injured it would be a horrible way to die! I did not realise they were trying to blind each other! Brilliant photos!

@JudyEv Yes I can't imagine you had these right in your garden. It seems so alien to us here!

I wonder if men used to fight like that back in the caveman days? lol

@JudyEv That's exactly what I was referring to! I was wondering if they would stand up on their tails and swing their caveman clubs at each other.

@dgobucks226 All male animals fight I think. It's just in their nature to have a natural pecking order.

We just took photos of them. These isn't much point in stopping them as they'd only fight again somewhere else. The smaller one gave in in the end.
