This post is a continuation of the original post. This will give you more insight into the program there. Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery raises up to 400,000 pounds of trout per year. As I mentioned in the original post, they raise both brown trout and rainbow trout to replenish the fish in their local waters. Most of the trout raised goes to Lake Taneycomo and the remaining goes to other trout managed waters. The photo is over the various trout bins. There are rows and rows of these bins and each one is filled with trout. The bins all contain the same size trout and this way when a bin is harvested the trout are all of the same size. You can see trout that are only inches long and also trout over a foot long. Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery is open from September through May from 9 am to 5 pm. They also offer guided tours in June, July and August at certain times. Photo Credit: My Own
