Being Homesick

My mom lives out of state and when she can't be here with my kids and I, it makes me feel homesick. She comes to spend the holidays with us every few years, but when she can't make it I really miss her and the rest of my family back home. I left home 20 years ago and have my own little family now and as a grown woman I wonder if the homesickness will ever go away.

I'm sorry you won't be spending the holidays with your mom. Try to make it special for the kids and do place a phone call to her on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve.

@Nakachan I hope she will get to visit you for Easter or another time in the spring so you don't have to wait until Christmas of next year to see her.

@Nakachan I understand .There was a time when I too would feel homesick when I was in college only 120 kms from my town.

Flights to Hawaii are too expensive for me and two kiddos. We went a couple of summers ago, but it is cheaper for her to fly here. Plus my sister is here too so my mom gets to see all of her grandchildren when she visits us.

@Nakachan It must be very hard for you and the kids when she cannot be with you on the holidays. Your Mom means a lot to you and I believe that you will always miss her if she is not closeby you. That is special. She means so much to you. I feel that way about my grandfather. He has been gone many many years now but I still remember him and miss him so much.
