Was That Real? A Story from the Hammock

Eva (@wolfgirl569) and I were recently commenting back and forth about relaxation, and I had mentioned falling asleep in my hammock. It reminded me of a time awhile ago when I was on a camping trip. My son and I go camping all the time, and we always invite my daughter to go, but she has no interest in camping whatsoever. But this particular time, I rented an old historic cabin on a lake in a state park, and was able to talk my daughter into coming along. On the first day there, I suggested that we set up the hammocks on the lakeshore and just relax and enjoy the day. My daughter had never been in a hammock, but she was willing to give it a try. So I set up the three hammocks, and soon we were relaxing on a beautiful, but cold day. My daughter commented on how comfortable it was in the hammock, and that she actually liked it.
Anyway, a little while later, as we were all lying there quietly, my son whispered over to me, "Dad, Hailey is asleep!" And I responded, "Yeah, I'm about to fall asleep myself." I then let myself drift off into neverland.
I'm not sure how long I was asleep, but I woke up with a sense of being watched. I opened my eyes, and peering down at me from only a few feet above my head was three beautiful young ladies. As soon as I opened my eyes, one of them said hello. I responded back with a hello of my own, and then we kind of just stared at each other for a few seconds. I then asked, "Can I help you with something?" And one of them responded with "No, we were just curious." We then made small talk, I asked them what time it was, where they were staying, what they were doing, etc, and then they went along on their way, with one girl commenting as she walked away, "He's cute!"
After they had walked away, I laid there for a minute scratching my head wondering if I had just dreamed the entire thing, or if it really had just happened. I sat up, looked around, and couldn't see the girls anywhere. I then heard movement from my daughter's hammock, so I looked over, and she looked back over at me and asked "What was that all about?" And of course I was like, "That was real?" She laughed and said "Yeah. Why? Did you think you were dreaming?" And I was like "Yeah." We laughed, and then I suggested we get up and go make a campfire to warm up.
I never did see those girls again the rest of the weekend, so I still question whether I was dreaming or not. But my daughter said she saw them too (my son slept through the whole thing). It was weird. I was hoping I would see them again so I could invite them over to our campfire.
Have you ever fallen asleep, then woke up and wondered if you were experiencing something real or just a dream?
Photo is my daughter in the hammock right after I had asked her if the girls were real or if I was dreaming!

@whiteream I'm the same way but opposite, even now. I have more female friends than male friends. It makes camping trips quite fun!

@moffittjc Actually, I have but that was way back in my younger days. I had more male friends than female just because of the way I am. They were just friends

Looks very relaxing I told my boyfriend I want one so I I’ll be getting one when they come back out in the stores and I can’t wait. I bet when you told your son about the girls he was sorry to have missed them.

@moffittjc I have always had a thing for older men since I was old enough to date. Me and my ex-husband were 12 years apart and me and my boyfriend are 9 years to me age means nothing but if your son was that old that is to old for him he can look and wish

@Tina30219 I agree about the age thing. My current girlfriend is half my age.
I don't doubt that my son would like an older woman. My last girlfriend, who was also half my age, had a sister the same age that my son was absolutely in love with (she was about 10 years older than him). So I wouldn't put it past him to to pursue an older girl. But he already has his hands full with all the girls his age in his classes. We always meet at the Starbucks next to his high school on Friday for coffee, and every Friday he has about 6 or 7 hotties following him over to the Starbucks, all vying for his attention.

From what I can tell, the girls looked to be in the mid-20s or low 30s, much too old for my son. And I think he was only about 14 at the time, so he wouldn't have been interested in older girls. Who knows? Or maybe he would have! lol

Thanks! She would probably kill me if she knew I posted this picture. She had just woken up from her nap in the hammock.

I have very vivid dreams; and when I wake up it takes a moment to get back to reality. I think you were dreaming about the "He's cute" part. Just kidding, Jeff! Cute pic of your daughter.

It is quite possible that I dreamed the part of them saying that I was cute! haha My guess is that there were three girls, and they saw three hammocks, and so the were secretly hoping that there were three guys in the hammocks, one for each of them! lol

But according to my daughter, it wasn't a dream, it was real. She saw the girls as well. I doubt the two of us could have been having the same dream!

That's funny! I can't say that I have dreamed something and then wondered if it was real. I have dreamed something like I was falling and that woke me up because it felt like I was falling, but I think those kind of dreams are pretty common.

I can probably count on one hand the number of dreams I've had in my life that were so real I could not tell if it really happened or not. A few of those dreams were from my childhood, and I can still remember than as if it were yesterday.

She said she heard me talking to the girls, and that it woke her up. She thought I was talking to people I knew.
