If you prepare one meal, why not prepare two?

We like to make enough when preparing a salad or whatever we are eating that there will be some for the next day also. We recently made a very large fruit salad and put what was left in glass jars in the refrigerator. Yet we hear some don't want to eat the same thing two days in a row or twice in one week. What? For us, it is easier to have meals for the next day or two good to go. Even though much of what we eat is raw, it is work to prepare and if we can save some time making enough for later, we will. Have to say too, it works especially well when making large amounts of soup from fresh veggies! Do you do this?

Yes indeed I do Pat. I make the food last and make extra whenever I can. Nothing is wasted here.

No waste here! Can't believe how much food some put in the trash rather than eat the same thing twice.

We find it just makes life a little easier for us. So many hours are already spent in the kitchen!

It's hard to cook only for one so usually I'll have enough for at least the next day or 2.

Not lazy @PatZAnthony it's so much easier to cook a large quantity. With small quantities it comes out lacking or so it has for me. I am doing well, I haven't seen you here all that much lately, life got busy for you didn't it.

If the house is full here, there won't be much left to save. But, the days when we know there will be a gang we make way too much just to not have to do it again. Lazy or easy? Not sure @rebelann Hope you are doing well.

My husband and I do this. But sometimes to avoid eating the same thing for two days in a row, we'll freeze some and make something different the next day. Then that way, 2 or 3 days within that same week we don't have to prepare meals from scratch.

For us @marlina it makes good sense to make extra and not have to worry about the next meal.

I have become very agreeable with eating the same dinner two days in a row. Leftovers are now my friend And yes, good point about time saved!

@dgobucks226 We find certain foods really do taste better after sitting a day or two. From fruit salad to soup, it seems the second day is better.

Leftovers make life so much easier for many of us @dgobucks226. The time saved alone counts for something, doesn't it?

When I make a crockpot meal, it is always enough for two days. I'm not a soup person except for chili. I made that yesterday and will finish it today.

Chili soup is one of our favorite cooked meals. We also like chili. We eat many raw foods and a scoop of chili on the side or a bit of chili with our raw choices are delicious with both.

There are things that I prepare in a larger quantity, like lasagna, soups, stews. I divide in portion and place in the freezer, so I am not obliged to eat the same thing two days in a row.

It gives us a break if we prepare for a few days at once. Some with more time might not need to do this, but it certainly helps us.

I do that also. I am single but I like to make huge pots of soup and freeze it for future meals. I make potato salad which keeps in the fridge for many days and goes with anything. Instead of having to cook each separate meal every day I only cook one and make it last many days.
