Today is a special day. Scar’s beleaguered hoomin turns 60 today. Here’s a song from my list of favorite country songs with “love” in the title that will hopefully perk up his spirits.
I Fell in Love - Carlene Carter
Talk about music royalty? The daughter of June Carter and Hall of Famer Carl Smith! The stepdaughter of Johnny Cash!! The ex-wife of Nick Lowe!! The former girlfriend of Heartbreaker Howie Epstein (who didn’t kill himself....oops, wrong Epstein )!!!
You may be surprised that I like this, given that it’s not all that “traditional” country-sounding. I accept that and just take this song for what it is: GREAT. And, if you agree that it’s not all that country, it could be that it was co-written with Epstein and another Heartbreaker that gives it enough edge to take the twang off.
Whatever, it’s a marvelous song.
I Fell in Love
Written by Carlene Carter, Howie Epstein, Benmont Tench, and Perry Lamek
Recorded by Carlene Carter

Hey, the Man in Black could rock sort of. Well maybe a little rockabilly. I had forgotten about Carlene Carter.
