It is a well established fact and it is now known to people outside our country that Indian economy is on the down slide. Renowned economists are telling it and we common people are feeling it's bite. The prices of even daily food items are skyrocketing. Banks are falling. Factories are shunting workers. People are losing their jobs. The government is trying to take tax from whatever quarter it can. But, never in my dreams I thought it will tax a poor man like me. I was looking forward to my payment from mylot in December. I had planned to buy a new pair of walking shoes on Christmas with the money. I take three months to earn the minimum amount for the payout. Lo and behold, I was informed that I have been taxed. The notorious GST ! Goods and Services Tax! I have been robbed of my mylot earning. I am just left with one dollar and some cents!!! Now, I know why Rahul Gandhi calls it Gabbar Singh Tax!!!

They have taxed nothing on my earning. It must be something else.

I am confused as nothing like that happened to my earnings. I am from the same country. You need to check. Maybe others from India can make it more clear. I have not faced any such issue. And GST was a good decision in long run, There were few initial hiccups but now things are okay and I found most people happy with it.

@vandana7 But isn't it too much?? Shocking The maximum GST slab is 28% and if we see his case, it must be more than 70 % here. Left with only a dollar and few cents . There might be some glitch with PayPal. Last month I got full 680 Rs for a little above 9 dollars that I made here.

it seems you have to earn more to offset the tax. if you remove your paypal email address in your account settings here, you can let your mylot earnings build up to more than $5.

@AkoPinay indian mylotters already said they have always received their mylot earnings without deduction when automatically transferred to their bank account (because they are not allowed to keep money in paypal). and @franxav specified mylot in his title.
maybe it's about time he answered all the responses and comments in this post of his, as well as the post of @arunima25 to clarify this issue
I was suggested a post by @hereandthere. It was posted by an Indian user @Xavier. I am shocked as I am also from the same country and have never faced...

@hereandthere For me, the title and the whole post doesn't really mean that mylot money was taxed. It might be MYLOT MONEY WAS DEBITED AS TAX TO PREVIOUS/RECENT PURCHASE/TRANSFER.
No government in this world will tax 70%.

@hereandthere I hope he clarified it from PayPal. It might be some glitch there with his account or some misreading from his end.

I am not sure about his account type there. But seems unbelievable. Many Indian including me get a full payment from here. PayPal deducts a nominal fees for other sites but not on Mylot. The nominal fees is for few cents.
the tax is applied only if you come under tax slab and maximum is 30% on income and 28 on GST. Nothing applies to our online earnings. His calculation is beyond 70%.i wonder if any country has such cruel tax system.

It's not true. We have to pay tax if we earn a certain amount. And the maximum tax is 30% . This is miscalculation. I always get my full payment from Mylot. For other sites PayPal deducts a nominal fees for few cents.

There is some confusion. I am a tax paying citizen of the same country. You have to pay tax only if your earnings cross a certain amount and the percentage of tax depends on your earnings. The maximum is 30%. I have not paid any tax on my online earnings so far. PayPal deducts a nominal fees of few cents.

I have not got payout from outside India for quite some time now so i wold not be able to give first hand information on the exorbitant claim by the poster however i would like state here that maximum rate of GST charged on goods and services supplied is 28%which is charged on goods like soft drinks but it's most unlikely that foreign urnings of these types could be charged at that rate. Most likely rate could be 18% which will translate into less than a dollar however this needs to be rechecked.

You are right. For any tax, we need to cross a certain amount on income. If I am right 30% is the highest slab on income and 28% for GST. This calculation is more than 70% and that is beyond comprehension. I got paid last month here and I got my full money without deduction. From other site I was paid in October, I got my money $10. A nominal fees of few cents was deducted. If I remember some 20 cents.

Hope you figure out why there was such a big loss in your paypal account. Some other members from India seem to think that your account has been hacked.

@myklj999 For any tax we have to earn well and reach a certain amount. Our maximum tax slab is 30% on income and 28% on GST on luxurious items. This calculation is more than 70% and beyond comprehension.

GST shouldn't be applied on Payments which comes from Blogging. There is some misunderstanding here. Can you tell me how much you got in your account?

So sad your economy is terribly affected. Only taxes for the government to impose for the payment of salaries of her people.
