We're in Kathmandu now

We arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, last night and we’re having a bit of ‘quiet time’ after walking quite a bit this morning. The flight wasn’t too bad but we only had an hour between flights at Kuala Lumpur. As our first flight was delayed two hours we had no hope of catching the second plane. Both were booked with Malaysian Airlines who looked after us well, giving us breakfast and lunch vouchers and use of a hotel room until the new flight which left at 8pm.
This plane had very little legroom so it was extremely difficult to get comfortable enough to sleep. We were met by a taxi from our hotel and arrived there 10.30pm so it was pretty much straight to sleep. The room is really basic but cheap and clean with free wi-fi. Breakfast is included and we had it in a rooftop garden. I had porridge which I haven’t had for ages and ages.
The photo is from the front of our hotel. I find the whole thing a bit confronting. Pedestrians, cars and motor-bikes all sharing much the same space and taxi-drivers all clamouring for our business. We asked a young man for directions who asked a man riding a pedal rickshaw affair. He reckoned he knew where we wanted to go so we went with him but after some time he had to ask for directions. The guy he asked said they all say they know a place but half the time they don’t. But it’s all good and tomorrow we’ll probably get to see the little boy we’re sponsoring.

that'd be part 'f my fear 'f flyin', gettin' stuck someplace waitin' fer a plane. so glad 't worked out though'n the airline took decent care 'f ya. bummer 'bout no leg space. i hear tell they pack folks like sardines these days.
a bit congested there outside yer hotel, but glad such 'tis clean 'n they feed ya, too.
most interestin' nobody knows where nothin' 'd be? sounds like back'n the hills, they'd argue fer a good 30 minutes 'r more 'til they'd decide which direction ya needed to go. hope by now y'ave gotten to meet that young fella 'n the family, too. be safe!

i so appreciate local pictures. glad you're safe.
to you it's confronting, to us it's normal. in fact, i know some places here are even more crowded and narrower than that but i don't live in such places.
it's the same way when people from countries like ours visit overseas. they're overwhelmed by the width of sidewalks, how to cross, parking, etc. hahaha!
that car sure takes me back when i was young.
i'm so okay with basic, cheap, clean and free wifi. but i would want it a bit spacious since i'm tall.
so why was your flight delayed?

They didn't give a reason for the delay. And I know people from big cities do get quite overwhelmed with the space and quiet of Australia's country areas. I felt a bit better about it all today but yesterday I just wanted to get back to our hotel room and a bit of quiet.

@JudyEv some people can hit the ground running, but some need time to get settled

I surely missed some of your posts Judy, I did not know you were travelling to Nepal. It seems that Asiatic airlines have less space for the legs because people in those countries are shorter. They all knew the place but they all had to ask, I hope you reached destination without too much delay.

That so normal for most of our cities too.
If you do happen to come to India and the North East part at that would love to host you.
Will take you around some quiet places too
