The Days are Getting Longer

Have you noticed the days are gradually getting longer lately? We gain about one minute of daylight every day. I noticed due to taking so many photos of the sunset from the deck.
The past few weeks I would have to get out on the deck at least by 4:30 pm to get the sunset before it was gone. Now it is a few minutes after 5pm before it actually goes down.
Kind of cool to look at the next five days. You can see we gain one minute of daylight each day for the sunrise and sunset times.
Just in case anyone was interested. I like knowing these things. If you don't, then move along and have a good evening!

Over here it seems to me that the night is still pretty much longer than the day.

I'm not sure that I've noticed the longer days. Sometimes the whole daylight to nighttime comes out without me really noticing. We will probably not definitely notice the time shift for a few more months in my opinion.

I have noticed that. Spring can be nice, but it seems like in this area we go almost directly from winter to summer..We have maybe 3 days of spring and then it gets beastly hot.

@CarolDM Most springs it seems like that, although one spring it was cool until like June 15.

We have a timing system on all our athletic sports field lighting that automatically turns the lights on at sunset, instead of staff having to turn the lights on manually. They system automatically knows when sunset is everyday, so it turns the lights on accordingly. So instead of staff turning the lights on at 5:30pm every day, the computer will turn them on at 5:31pm, then the next day at 5:32pm, and on as the days get longer. Believe it or not, just that minute or two each day saves us thousands of dollars in utility costs every year!

@CarolDM We went with this particular timing system because of the projected savings, although we were skeptical that they would be as high as the company was promoting. But it turns out they were right on the money with the projected savings!

I didn't know that...but that is very cool! It's great that it is slowly starting to get dark a little bit later each day, even if it is just by a minute or two for now.

@CarolDM I don't notice it just staying light a min or so later each day...I just notice that it does start getting dark a little bit later as the weeks go on.
