Never mind odd socks - how about odd shoes!

Bumped into an old work colleage of mine a couple of days ago and we were reminiscing about the 'good old days' (yeah, right!) when we both worked for the same company. We were talking about some of the characters we worked with and up came one name. To spare his blushes we'll call him 'Wee Jimmy'! Being a good Scotsman Wee Jimmy liked his whisky and often turned up for work (never late but always cutting it fine) in a rather dishevelled state having obviously been out with friends the previous evening. He was never visibly drunk (we would not have tolerated that) but often exhibited that 'dragged through a hedge backwards' look which is common amongst those who like a good drink. One day he appeared as usual seconds before the boss called us to our various tasks and right away we knew he had had a great time the previous evening. Not content with wearing odd socks Wee Jimmy was wearing odd shoes! They were both slip-ons but one was black and the other was brown - he had been so much in a hurry that we had gotten dressed in the dark! That incident was a staple of the depot humour for months so much so that we nicknamed him 'Tommy Two Shoes'!
