We had storms recently and lost our electricity power for a bit. It was very hot and humid and to be without a fan was pretty uncomfortable. I went to lie down and luckily fell asleep till the power came back on. Some people lose power for days on end. How do they manage in that time.? How do they cook, keep warm/cool, pass the time?

It's bad in my country we loss power so many hours, so we resort to using altenative power.

I suppose that's the only way to do it.

I hope I never have to find out about that personally. I wouldn't know what to do without power plus all the food in the freezer would go bad.

That wouldn't happen with me @MsTickle I'm always taking something out of my little freezer so I'll have enough to eat so if there's a power outage here most of my food would go bad in no time.

I guess they do what they have to. It would really be a challenge.

I always feel like a coffee the minute the power goes off.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost power. I do hope that you didn't lose it for long.

It was only for 2-3 hours twice one day then the same period once, another day.

Hi MsTickle, Good to see you still frequent this place. Power outages are rare these days in the UK. We used to get them regularly in the 70s and 80s I seem to remember. Only one thing you can do when it's dark and that's have a fumble. A fumble for the torch and look for some candles. As there isn't much heat off a candle you'd have to go to bed with a thick duvet and some bed socks.

Fancy seeing you here. Recent outages were during daylight hours.

We have heard of instances where people are without power for days or weeks. Not so sure we would survive that here in winter, even though our winters are not as bad as many places.

I've heard of this too. People would have to be ready with gas bbq and so forth to cook food and make coffee and keep warm if it's cold.
