Thunderstorms & Lightning Last Night

We have had rain for two days now. It is finally gone today and the temperatures are dropping.
The power flickered a few times last night but thankfully never went off. The thunder and lightning lasted for a couple of hours. Nearby there were trees down and flooded roads.
I read in Helena, Alabama (close to Birmingham) there was a tornado and so far one was confirmed dead. These powerful storms can cause a lot of damage.
It always takes a day or two to get all of the news. They have to go through the downed trees and power lines to make sure nobody was trapped in the homes.
Hoping for the best. The storms are gone now. Staying inside, except to feed the birds the next few days.

@Shivram59 a lot of commitment must be made to curb down weather effects....America can't be blamed for such scenarios...... industries must make a lot of compromises and sacrifices to protect the future America

stay safe I think some of the storm winds came our way. Our temps rose and then suddenly we now have such winds that they could fly you through the skies @CarolDM

I hate when it rains two days in a row or even a whole week. What I do not like that when it is nice and then goes back to rain and cold and plays games with us. That is not good that the power flickered. Tornadoes are not much fun. I hope things will improve.

These storms can be wicked for sure. They have bad flooding in the SW part of the state here.

I hope everyone is OK. Stay put for a while! That's what we are doing because it's icy outside.

I have heard of the storms happening down south. We get some pretty bad storms in the northeast, but mainly wind and of course snow!

@caroldm We're to have storms the next few days but ours rarely come to much. TV gets great mileage out of the prospect, especially now that all our storms are given names - hype, hype and more hype then a gust of wind. Saves journalists the bother of doing real stories I suppose.
