Guess what happened to us!

Our plane from Nepal back to Perth was not due to leave till 11.30pm. If we’d had any sense we would have booked the room for an extra night as it was only $A34 a night which was very cheap. We didn’t think of that so booked out at midday, leaving our luggage in the lounge. We went for a long walk, had lunch, came back to the hotel and read for a while then went for another walk.
We decided to have an early tea then go out to airport as we thought we might as well wait out there as in Kathmandu itself. We arrived there about 6 pm and booked our two big bags in without any problems. Our backpacks were then scanned and we settled to wait in the lounge. After some time, Vince said he could smell an electrical smell. Next minute, people came pouring down from upstairs and we were all ushered outside into the car park. From there, we could see smoke behind the airport building. It turns out an electrical fire had started in an upstairs room.
After quite some time in the airport carpark, we were allowed back in. We stood around for ages in the foyer before we were allowed back to where we could sit down. Of course, everyone’s bags had to be rechecked. When the time came, we were ushered to another room then onto buses which took us out to our plane. So, what with all the excitement going on, we didn’t have time to be bored.
We had a five hour trip to Kuala Lumpur, a three-hour stopover, then 5 ½ hours to Perth. We stayed with our friends in Perth last night. And now we’re safely home and glad to be here.
Photo is in the airport carpark.

We usually don't book for another day in the hotel when our trip is by midnight. We also leave our bags in the hotel's reception and roam around some more.

@JudyEv when we were in Malaysian, the Majestic hotel gave us a free extension. Our flight was 10 pm and we inquired on how much the extension of stay would be. We were just given another room since we had already checked out. I will never forget the kindness of the hotel.

Good that you are back safely from your trip. I also am glad that your country is not that strict about the NCOV infection happening around. In here, seems like besides the immigration getting strict on you some are required to be on quarantine if they found out you came from countries that are affected by the virus.

Glad that you are back home safe and sound. Good that the fire outbreak was nothing much serious and it didn't effect much other than the rush and inconvenience for some time.

Oh my gosh, an electrical fire! Thank God everyone was safe, from any harm or severe damages. Getting back home is definitely a welcomed site, after that long delay returning!
