Does anyone remember VHS tapes? Ah they were plentiful through my childhood and young adult years. I came across this story online about a man who picked one up at a thrift story, simply titled "A Surprise" and was brave enough to watch it. For those of us too young to know knowledge of VHS tapes, VHS was a medium you could record on to. So many people had recorded shows off of tv, or assuming they had a camcorder - personal moments. So it was a brave move for this person to play the tape. On it? Was a video of RIck Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up". That's right, almost a decade after it hit it's peak, and epic Rick Roll. lol. And for those of us too young to remember RIck Rolling was where you would send anyone an internet link to anything. …. "Shoe Sale!" …. "BIg News Now!", …. or whatever else.... and the link would actually send the victim to the Rick Astley video... an internet prank. Were you ever Rick Rolled?

That is freaking hilarious. I used to Rick Roll a lot of people when it was super popular to do it haha I am glad it is still such a good meme to do.

@FayeHazel In highschool in my media tech class I had gotten all the people in my class who logged into their computers Rick Rolled. My teacher of that class knew what I was doing and was laughing like crazy.

That's funny. I actually still have a couple of VHS tapes; they're unopened movies, such as the old movie, Marnie.

Being an old guy, of course I remember VHS. And the rival format Betamax. Thank god we've moved onto streaming is all I've got to say. I also remember the Rick Rolling. Rick is a brit, and I think this pranking was an American thing. How and why it started I don't know but it was crazy. Rick is still going strong and belting out some real soulful music. I'm a fan.

Ah yes. While the VHS tapes being nostalgia, I do not miss fishing them out of the machine once the tape got eaten. Rickrolling, the prank got started after something called duck rolling - where people were sending around an animated duck on wheels images. How or why they chose Rick Astley, not sure. I loved the prank though. Happy he's still making music

No Rick Astley for me but I still have VHS tapes but no working VCR to play them. I'm waiting for a retro-event like they have done with vinyl LP's and record players, lol.

LOL. You know, you're probably right. It'll make a swing back and be cool again. I was surprised to learn that there is some collector value to the old, first style Nintendo cartridge

@FayeHazel You hold onto something long enough and it becomes a collector's item? I always feel by the time that happens I won't be around to cash in on it... Of course I'm still upset that my baseball cards wound up in the trash when I went off to college No just kidding I'm over it now, lol.
