Giving Up On a Book Half Way Through

Ever read a book that you gave up after awhile? It rarely happens to me but I'm struggling with the book my daughter gave me to read.
She got it out of the library along with a few other books. She's busy reading something else so she gave it to me and figured I'd be finished with it by the time she's ready to read it.
I've plugged along for more than 125 pages. Some parts were good while others were just preposterous. Once it reached a point of being so totally out there I decided to give this book back and not finish it.
The book....The Warning by James Patterson. It's too sci-fi for me and although I enjoy books by Stephen King and Dean Koontz this one just fizzles and doesn't keep me entertained.
If I were to review this book I'd say it was aptly named...The Warning (being don't read it)

I usually plug along and finish a book even if it isn't holding my attention but I just had to give up on this one.

@Corbin5 that's awesome and certainly would make a great bookmark. I'm going to copy it and print it

It's hard for me to read print in a book anymore @Marilynda1225 so now I just watch movies instead.

I love James Patterson but this one wasn't my cup of tea. I'm not into sci-fi much. Otherwise I pretty much read anything.
Did you like this book?

There are books like that and you think you are going to enjoy them.
Maybe you can find a better one to read next time around.

Sorry you couldn't get into it enough to finish it. But that's okay. Always something else to read.

Yes, I have not liked all the books I have read. I like to try and stick with what looks very interesting to me and who I like to read. Too bad because I read something by him. You can get duds by a good author. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, it does happen to me a lot. I hate not to finish yet I hate to keep reading. Usually on or the other wins.

It's seldom that i don't finish a book I have started reading. One reason i do not read books anymore now is because i am always busy on the internet. All my free time is taken by net.

Hubby reads those. I do not know if he has read "The Warning" though.

I haven't given up on a book halfway through in quite a while. I am not sure what that says but I admit to being stubborn like that and always wanting to finish what I start. One problem I do have, however, is sometimes I will be reading a book and when I am about halfway through, life happens and I don't touch it again for weeks. And even though I still remember the parts that I read (if I REALLY enjoy the book I'll even subconsciously have parts of it memorized) and could probably pick it back up right where I left off and get just as much out of it, it just doesn't feel right, and I end up starting over just because I like the feeling of having that continuity fresh on my mind.
