We had the first case in my home country yesterday. Today two more cases were confirmed, it looks like the virus is spreading fast.
The woman who got sick first had just came back from a trip to North Italy and the second case is her child.
Many schools from Greece go for their annual school trip to our neighboring country and when the virus started spreading, the government cancelled all the trips and brought everyone back. Also, the carnival events in the country are officially cancelled.
I am worried that soon the flights will start cancelling between the affected countries and we won't be able to visit our home.
Do you think these measures will be effective and will stop the virus from spreading?
How are the conditions in your country?

This virus has got the knack of piercing through the closed borders. Italy had closed all flights from China, the most affected place but it still managed to infect people in Italy in large scale. Now they become the carrier of virus for rest of Europe.

So far there is only one case in Denmark. The person came back from a vacation in Italy. He has been placed in isolation. His family are not allowed to leave their house and some of the his co-workers also have to stay in their home for a while.

@besweet Yesterday I heard that there are two cases in my country now. I hope it remains that way. I agree, it is a really bad idea to go to 3 different hospitals. Here people have to go to certain hospitals if they think that they might have it. They have have to stay away from the other hospitals.

@Porcospino There is instructions for the hospitals here also. Some people don't think straight when the time comes. I heard before in London, one patient of the virus went to the hospital with uber.
There is one case in Denmark yes, there is a list of the affected countries that I follow and it's updated every few hours.

Yes same measures for the workplace were taken here. That woman's coworkers are advised to work from home and the school of her child has closed temporarily. For the third case, it was very irresponsible because she went to 2 hospitals and because of the long waiting line she left and went to a third one before her confirmation.
I hooe it stays to one for your country.

There should be a forceful quarantine for the places and the people who are infected. That would be the most effective way to stop the spread of the virus.
But I think that the virus is not that dangerous, as the media tries to show it.

@besweet I think it is similar to H1N1 virus, which also made a great panic in the world. Every virus is dangerous, in some sort of way. But it is bad to be panicked, that doesn't help at all.

@rappeter13 Panic doesn't help but we all need to keep the basic hygiene and avoid some activities when we are sick to avoid spreading the virus. I don't like this virus, pneumonia is different than any other flu or virus. My dad always said that our lungs and our eyes will remember everything for ever.

There was an announcement for the schools to come back but people were already there at the outbreak. It expanded so fast and in a couple of days they got hundrends of infected people in Italy. Now all the trips are cancelled by you can't do much in Europe. I mean people can cross the border with their cars or travel by ship anytime, even if the flights are cancelled.

Here we choose to stay at home most of the time. We won't have a gathering so far. We will wear a mask and wash hands often and these precautions will be somewhat helpful. Of course having a balanced diet is important as a stronger body is better in this situation.

That is a scary virus. So far the cases are few and far between, but that could change.

@May2k8 Which island ? I haven't heard about that. For us the cases increased to 7 already. Most are from the environment of the people who were in contact with the first parients and they were already quarantined.
Let's hope that it will stay like that. How long ago was this patient in your country admitted?

Yes, it is more controlled for you it's true. And it's not an easy travel ro Australia for everyone because it's a long trip and only through the airport or the ports I guess. In Europe people pass the borders so easily from one country to the other even by car, it can't be controlled.
