Do you care that the greatest Dow Jones Industrial Average loss in the history of the world occurred today?

That blasted virus keeps spreading, albeit slowly, and it's affecting various sectors of the stock market.
Airline stocks are down. Hotel stocks are down. Industries that support the above industries are down. Chip making stocks are down.
Today's almost 1200 point decline in the DJIA is the largest in the history of the world.
But not the largest on a percentage basis. The virus is an excuse for a "correction," which this market needs.
What are your thoughts on the stock market "crash" over the past few days? I took several thousand out of the market when it hit its recent high. Of course, now I wish I had taken more out.
But I'm still chuckling.

The previous largest single day-drop of the Dow Jones was on the 29th of September 2008. We chat with Deborah-Dianne from California a lot and we had predicted the drop well before the coronavirus. They got this occasion to correct a market that was totally fake and inflated. This is my job.

@TheHorse We are both retired now, but my husband was a business consultant and stock market analyst. I have always been his assistant. A job that I have always hated, but I always did my best and I never made mistakes with my contacts with the banks. You must really know what you are doing, those who think to make money without knowing how the stock market really works usually have the same results as playing roulette in a casino. They can even win sometimes, but they will lose everything sooner or later.

The situation is quite alarming. More clusters in Italy, Iran and South Korea have this virus. Health services and scrutiny is not intense everywhere.
First cases in Denmark, Estonia and Israel too have been confirmed.
Schools have been closed in Japan.
I wonder if this is a flu and pneumonia causing virus or as some reports suggest on the Net, that it was perhaps a biological agent, which was accidentally leaked??

@TheHorse Yes, but the isolation and the level of precautions are big, and painful too.

@wolfgirl569 I tend to be pretty conservative with my investments.

I hate watching the numbers in my portfolio drop. At least the solution to that problem is pretty simple--don't watch them drop!
We had a bit in Tesla and that plunge was a bit painful but not unexpected. Our general plan is to ride it out as best we can and buy more while prices are down. The most action we've taken is adjusting 401(k) withholding to boost my Roth IRA contributions and take advantage of the potential for greater tax-free growth.

@TheHorse That's probably the case. As far as I know the Roth accounts are the only ones that grow tax-free.

I’ve been watching the stocks going down from day to day. I forgot I have some shares in a telecommunication company. It’s not much but it does give me some dividend every year. I don’t think I’m going to sell the shares. It’s not much at all. I will just let it sit. I’m sure it will recover once this virus epidemic ends.

I'm trying to keep a cool head. I don't think there will be a crash or anything similar.

I do care. I've been monitoring the stock market too. NYSE is down 7% and that's huge. Tokyo Stock Exchange at 3% -- if I got my figures correctly. Looks like we have to brace for another recession. I'm not pulling out my investments just yet.
