Cooped at home for the next 5 days

Due to growing cases of COVID-19 in the National Capital Region which is about an hour's drive from here, our province has declared class suspension until Saturday. This means I'll be cooped at home with my kids and husband in the next five days. We've got errands to do in between that would require us to go out, and I’m hoping that exposure would be very minimal or none at all. There’s an evident pandemic of fear in my country due to lack of testing kits and facilities that can support a population of about 100 million. Not saying that testing kits will have to be as much, but we’ve got to have that assurance that the government is ready to assist anyone. For now I’ve got my faith in my health insurance and our local government unit.
Do you find your government well-equipped and competent enough to handle this crisis?

We have not tested the competency of this government here for this grave crisis. So far however they support all necessary 5ings here such as hand sanitizer, masks and cancelled all major big event’s

@almostoveryou I see. Well the tourism here dropped a big time. The immigration did a drastic decision of not letting people in.as soon as the news came out.

There doesn't seem to be an epidemic of fear in Thailand, or is there? I have a friend in Bangkok and she's quite cool about it. She's on self-quarantine now after a trip to Malaysia.

I am having my fingers crossed that if my relatives and myself have to be cooped up sue to the virus, help will be available for all of us.

I hope you all stay safe and that medical assistance would be readily available. Has there already been a case in Louisiana?

Avoid social contacts as much as possible. Meaning avoid handshakes, hugging or any means of hand and body contacts with anyone you suspect having it. The most important of all is to maintain good hygiene habits around the house. Disinfecting and sanitizing may be good to be sure that you wont have it. Lastly, having a healthy body and mind would help a lot. Exercise and drinking vitamins could help boost immune system which can deter infections.

Thanks. We try our best to do all those. I sanitize every time because I'm the one who does bank errands, grocery, etc. I've stocked up on face masks, cleaning agents and toiletries for the house. But I'll need to go out again to get fresh meats and additional provisions.

@almostoveryou True we parents will have to risk ourselves going out for provisions for the house. Taking those precautions I think is enough to protect you.

@rsa101 I'm grateful to be working from home. The exposure may be greater for those who need to go out every day. But you are right, it's a matter of preparedness and proper mindset.

Doesn't seem like our government is ready for this, they do not know how to combat it and until recently my state did not have any testing kits, but apparently they do now. I have never been in a pandemic/epidemic scare. This is a weird time for sure.

According to WHO, it isn't a pandemic yet. Though we all feel the panic because it's a new virus.

I think that makes sense. How many cases do you have in Serbia already?

My worst thing was yesterday, I was in a small bayad center koisk. Airconditioned and with a few customers while one of them cough with his covered mouth. This is why I stay home most of the time.

Exactly. It can be quite scary when people cough or sneeze and don't bother to wear masks. I had the same experience at the supermarket last Sunday. There was a guy who kept sneezing and never even bothered to cover his mouth. I don't care if that was just allergy; it's downright rude.
