A Trip to the Coffee Shop

Yesterday afternoon hubby and I went for a drive (gas is cheaper and we needed to get out). It's been a while since we enjoyed our coffee shop coffee so I suggested using the drive through to avoid people. (This coffee shop is along a major highway, the first Tim Hortons after the airport.) Hubby said, no, we're going in to sit and enjoy our coffee. I'm actually glad we did.....I was horrified.... With all the warnings in place.....I watched our server take the cash.....(bare hands).....pour the coffee......fit the lid....smoothing the edges firmly with these same fingers.....give it an extra pat to make sure it was secure.....right where my lips were to go! With drinking the coffee in the coffee shop I promptly removed the contaminated lid.... No more Timmies for me for a while!

I hope you are well. Times are a little nerve-racking now.

Go if you can because all our restaurants, bars and coffee shops are now closed due to the virus.

@Morleyhunt Everything is closed here, only those who sell food and medications are open, it is a surreal atmosphere, not something I wanted to witness.

We have more closures almost hourly. That was probably our final outing for a while. Vacation plans have been halted.

I will have my coffee at home so I know for sure it is safe. I will cook at home and bring my own lunches to work also. This whole virus thing is scary, my doctors office just closed for 3 weeks and now they want bars and restaurants to close only drive thru and take out ones to stay open. Schools closed here indefinitely so who knows when they will reopen.

@Morleyhunt yeah even bowling alleys closed so no more bowling for awhile either. Good thing I have plenty of books, coloring books and video games to keep me busy.

I'm surprised they weren't taking more precautions. Good thing you were paying attention and removed the lid before enjoying your Tims

I was appalled. Now I'm staying home. Church has already been cancelled. My volunteer hours at the local nursing home have been cancelled...maybe tomorrow a quick visit to the local quilt shop to get the material I need to finish assembling my grandsons graduation quilt, After that...it will be, stay home!

When something like this strikes, you immediately become aware of all sorts of things that didn't bother you before.

That's true. A department store employee took a patron to tak on Friday for not washing her hands after visiting the restroom. Good for the worker!

That is wrong on a lot of levels. The ones that I have been to its 1 person who takes your order and money and if you order baked goods they will put that into a bag, but its another worker who does your drink order and has it ready at the side. And I know that on the rare occasion that we get a small box of tim bits it isn't the cashier that fills the box, its the other worker. Having said that it might be a population thing, our city is large and busy, and I am not sure what its like where you are. Starbucks will be closing their shops in malls or at universities. They will eventually remove all of their seating.

It was my final outing for a couple of weeks. Our trip to North Carolina has been put on mothballs as well as our trip to Ontario for Easter. After that, we'll see.

Yikes! We are staying home. Went to donate blood yesterday and got a few groceries. At bulk barn I waited at the entrance until a staff came. She put on fresh gloves and scooped my items. Someone else was at the till.

It is a very weird time. Things are evolving daily. At my location, we have closed our seating area, so people who come in has fallen drastically. And even the drive through traffic has declined. My first shift this week was canceled and I spent most of my shift yesterday cleaning baseboards, chair and table legs and various other little things.

We have no choice in the matter anyway as eateries are ordered closed except for delivery and take out.

Did that put you off your coffee?. I was thinking about germs this morning when I picked up a basket in the supermarket. I wondered how many other people had used that basket and did any of them have the virus.
