On Saturday, we had a nice weather and we planted the potatoes. We have a big garden and my father takes care of it. We usually have a large variety of vegetables planted. So, in the warmer period of the year, we have fresh and homegrown vegetables available. The taste cannot be compared to the vegetables that are sold in stores, as they are tasteless.
Usually, the price of the potato is low, but with the corona virus, I think this year it will be much higher. But if there will be crop, we will have plenty of potatoes at home.
Do you have a garden at home?

Nice, good thing you have a garden at home. I also live in the city and since there is this virus I'm sure our landlord will understand if we grow some veggies at the terrace. Already gathered some seeds of the bell pepper, I hope they will grow:)

He must understand. It is a crisis situation, so the usual rules shouldn't apply.

@rappeter13 Yes, and maybe if he sees the result and maybe he will learn to appreciate and even try it himself too:)

I don't know if you have "Colorado bugs", which are the biggest enemy of the potato.

@rappeter13 I haven't heard of them but there are plenty of other bugs that attack vegetables.

I think it differs from region to region. The usual time to plant potatoes here is end of March, beginning of April.

You could grow some vegetables on your balcony, I suppose.

@rappeter13 Our balcony is small. We barely have room for two chairs.

I planted a potato when I was in London. The plant grew fast but before I left, the potatoes in the roots were still small so I did not harvest it. Lucky are the next tenant in the apartment.

@rappeter13 maybe they would harvest that if they know the plant.

Thank you! It is one of my favorite meals, so it is always a pleasure to harvest them.

I think it is a good thing to grow your own veg, especially now ,when we do not know how this virus is going to affect things

We do this since forever. It is a custom that is still alive in Transylvania, but it will die out soon, as the young generations don't do this anymore.

I guess the majority of the people prefer them to those which can be bought in stores.
