Sitting on the Lanai

There’s a lot to be said for sitting outside in the sunshine or evening on my little lanai in Florida.
I can myLot.
I can read my book.
I can work on my tan with sunscreen of course.
I can enjoy snacks, coffee, or meals on the lanai.
I can entertain on the lanai and serve cocktails, wine, nibbles, or even water there.
No bugs can bother me, although the breeze from the water always keeps them away.
I get to watch boats, kayaks, paddle boarding, canoes, fishermen, people walking on the piers, people sunning themselves on the beach at low tide, people coming and going, and even chatting with others from a safe distance.
I also have the seabirds to watch. Some sun themselves and some fish.
I can listen to my Amazon Echo play my favorite songs.
It’s easier to communicate with Orville the osprey.
I can see the ocean and various large boats.
Every so often I can see manatees, ducks, or dolphins.
Fish jumping out of the water are fun to watch, too, from our lanai.
I have many views ~ East, South, and West.
Whoever said that living on the water is boring? I know someone who has. That person doesn’t know what living is all about.

I think living on the water is wonderful, while I don't have that I do get to sit out and enjoy the breeze on our back screen porch or front porch. Al has been living on the front porch, a good way to meet neighbors as they walk by walking their dogs etc. Someone actually told you living on the water was boring? As a lake cottage owner, I can say with complete honesty, it never gets old. I sit in my swing there and just look at the lake.

What a beautiful photo. It looks like a slice of heaven to me.
Thanks for agreeing with me. Some people are complete fools and most likely envious. Too bad for them!
It never gets old.
You are as blessed as I am, even more in the house department.
I wouldn’t trade it for the world and love the best of two worlds.
I’m sure you and Al appreciate what gifts you have!

@DianneN We do feel blessed, your right about a little piece of heaven, it is so quiet there and relaxing. I have to admit to a little envy about that intercostal view but at least I can sit on my brother's balcony and see the ocean in St Augustine several times a year. lol And of course you have Orville!! Gazpacho has disappeared this year but little geckos have shown up so many his children lol

Gazpacho May be busy making babies. lol
Orville is waiting for his little ones to hatch.
St. Augustine is so beautiful. My brother texted me as he passed through. That’s where our grandpa lived and it was on our father’s birthday, too. Very touching moment.
We can see the ocean from one window here lol, but it’s less than a five minute drive from our condo by either of two bridges. No can go now with the state of emergency here in Palm Beach County.

I'd love to live on the water. There's nothing more soothing than sitting on a balcony with a nice glass of something overlooking a body of water.
We occasionally get to live on the water temporarily when we have a downpour. The rain runs off the hills near our house and creates a fast-flowing river right outside our front door.

I would love to sit in your lanai and see a manatee. I've only seen one up close when we were in the Everglades the last time. I would LOVE to move down there. I wish we could.

@LindaOHio You really should try to dump it. It sounds like a money pit.

@DianneN If we didn't have that other house, we could seriously consider it. If I were to win the lottery, that house would be sold to a flipper for whatever they offered!

Very nice view and you are so right you can sit out there and read and enjoy your coffee or nice adult beverage and while you are doing this work on your tan with sunscreen like you said.

Yes, thanks!
There is lots to do and see.
Even in the north part of our area there is a lovely street with beautiful homes, fantastic landscaping, and beach access to look at or walk on.
That person is definitely not a partier, but boring as h*ll.

Living on the water is great. It can be very entertaining. I am not waterfront here, but it is undoubtedly fun for those who are. My former brother in law had property on the Choptank very near the Cheaspeake Bay and it was cool..There were always seagulls about..and boats to watch.

@snowy22315 At least you aren’t too far.
Can you go there whenever you want or do you need a permit?

Yes, I understand what you are saying. I have a good view out in my back yard. It is at times like this when I make sure to notice and appreciate the beauty of the Nature that is right around me.
