Our local store has no toilet paper left, but it is still possible to buy toilet paper in the large stores here. I would only buy the amount that I usually buy.

@Torunn I thought about that when I wrote the previous comment, that wouldn't be an easy decision to make. Maybe I would take some of photos of the art work before I used it as toilet paper

You could buy one extra roll to make toilet paper art? ;-)
I've seen lot of fancy things online lately that people have made with toilet paper. I just haven't had the time to try myself yet, and I'm a bit skeptical, 'cause if you make art with it, would you use it as toilet paper afterwards? It might just be a waste of paper.

@Porcospino That's the thing, is it for toilet paper after making art of it would be like sacrilege!
So what do you do if you day stand there, and that's the only toilet paper you have left?

I went into our grocery store on Thursday, and was completely surprised to see it fully stocked with toilet paper! Now that all the hoarders have stocked up, the stores can replenish and us regular folks can now buy toilet paper!
We have a toilet paper manufacturing facility about 20 miles east of where I live. They were operating at 95% of capacity before the crisis, and now they are operating at 110% of capacity. They just don't have the equipment or space to expand any further! But they are working 24/7 to try and produce as much toilet paper as they can!

Yes, no people losing their jobs in the toilet paper industry. Maybe they could employ some of the ones loosing their jobs if this continues?
I remember when the Icelandic banks had a crisis some years ago, there were actually talk about sending a ship with extra toilet paper to Iceland 'cause they didn't have money to get what they needed to make it.

@moffittjc That's great! There'll be quite a few who haven't savings etc to rely on, and I think that doing something for the money is nearly always better than sitting at home.
It hasn't started here yet, 'cause they've increased the number of days you get full salary if you're temporarily laid off to 20 but after Easter many'll be getting less money and wanting something to do. That's more or less exactly when the planting season starts, so this year they hope Norwegians will want to take temporary jobs in agriculture. Normally there'd be people coming from Poland and Lithuania.

@Torunn We have several businesses here in our city that are trying to hire hundreds of workers on a temporary basis just to help out people in need. When the crisis ends and people can go back to work at their regular jobs, the businesses will release those temporary workers they hired. Glad to see some businesses stepping up to help out.

@noni1959 My mother really couldn't get why people were hoarding TP because she always does. She has enough for herself for half a year, at least.
Maybe that's why I didn't stress, I thought that if I ran out, I could get some of hers.
But I did check my food stores last March. I didn't realize of much food I usually have around, too much really. I think I'm back to the same levels now, so I must plan dinner and eat some of it.

@JudyEv Yes, if you know where to shop, you can find more or less everthing elsewhere.
I've for some reason ordered anti-bac online. It seemed like such a good idea, but I'm allergic, so I use soap. And I'm not going anywhere I need it right now, I wonder if I should give it to my parents? I ordered two, and my parents are way into the risk-group when it comes to age.

Initially we faced this problem here in Australia but this is not the case anymore! Our supermarkets have enough for everyone now. Maybe the situation here is not as bad as it looked in the beginning or the people have bought enough with no more storage space!

I still imaging lot of people building castles with their toilet paper hoard.
I could have filled one of my storage rooms of course, then filled the other two with anti-bac and canned food. But no hoarding means that I now don't have a big problem with food that I have to throw away.

@suni51 I don't think you'd be able to return anything bought at a grocery store here, unless it was already bad when you bought it. So those who went shopping the Thursday the schools closed are still stuck with all their canned food and breakfast oats.
