How My City of Paso Robles is Doing During the Pandemic So Far

Paso Robles is in the north end of San Luis Obispo County in California. It's a small city supported mainly now by the wineries and breweries. The almond orchards that once supported it have mostly been left to fend for themselves or have been replaced by the vineyards that seem to be everywhere.
As of today we have 42 cases of the coronavirus in our county. 18 of them our in our north part of the county. North and south counties are separated by the Cuesta Grade which is about seven miles long. Over half the people who are ill are between 18 and 64. That's more than the cases among us older more at risk people so far. One one has died here yet. The county expects the number of cases to triple by tomorrow.
I live in a small residential tract bordered on two sides by a park and a hiking trail. The Walmart shopping center and the Albertson's center across from it are both within walking distance. I can walk to J.C. Penny via hiking trail in about ten minutes.
But I don't go that way if I want to shop in those stores. In a pinch, if I am well, I can walk to my bank, grocery store, Walmart, CVS, and to several restaurants or fast food places. I can also walk to my medical lab if I need to. But I usually drive because I normally shop and do other errands while I'm out.
The streets here are fairly empty now, but parking lots beside grocery stores are quite full. Most people are obeying the order to only go out on essential errands. We do, however, go on walks as the governor has encouraged us to do. This photo essay was taken locally today. It begins with a video showing traffic at an intersection I can walk to. Two of my banks are on that corner. One of them is shown. https://pasoroblesdailynews.com/photos-a-look-at-life-in-paso-robles-in-the-time-of-the-coronavirus/106069/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=photos-a-look-at-life-in-paso-robles-in-the-time-of-the-coronavirus&utm_source=Paso+Robles+Daily+News+Subscribers&utm_campaign=dd5317840c-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_ae483f1f99-dd5317840c-320328141
I'm thankful I have a park so close and that we aren't confined to our houses and can go for walks and work in the garden. In the photo at the top, you can see my neighbors, the same ones that shopped for me last week and delivered to my front porch, walking ahead of us towards the park in our neighborhood yesterday after the rain.
Do you go out and walk during this pandemic? Do you see your neighbors walking their dogs? How is your neighborhood or city different than mine?

We can't go have a walk now, we are on 24 hour enhanced quarantine, only one person per household is allowed to have a pass to buy food stuffs ( I gave the task to my 23 year old son), food stores are open only from 8-10am and 3 to 5 pm. There's a curfew from 8pm to 5am( no going out even if you are just in front of your house)
I spend most of my time gardening or going up and down our tree house to get some sun and exercise, and mangoes Seems like you have a good neighborhood. Our house is fenced with high concrete walls and 3 strong metal gates

@bagarad I know how it is to get locked down on high rise apartments from accounts told to me by friends in China, I don't think I could stand not being able to step on earth ( soil) or touch plants plants for a long time. Yeah suddenly we can't go to church

@louievill Our church is now live streaming services, small groups, and prayer meetings with Zoom. It's not the same as being together, but the small groups worked better than I expected it would.

I hope our restrictions don't get any tighter here. At least you have a yard to garden in. I feel for those confined in apartments with no yard. Of course, I feel for you, too, and your neighbors. None of us are used to not being able to shop easily and freely or hang out with our friends or go to church.

I have to go look at our news I check out online and see what new restrictions we have. Last I read we can only go out 100 meters from our homes now. I checked yesterday that the mail will go on and pharmacies will be open and can go to the grocery stores. Very few dogs in this area. I have not gone on my porch to see what is going on. I have a cat and she is a home cat. I have to walk a little ways to get to things but they are not that far to get to. No banks open and there are stores closed in my area.
At times it is very quiet out and other times I see people walking around.

our neighborhood has been really quiet. We continue to walk our dogs, but where we once saw 40 people give or take every day now we see 5

@bagarad we are very careful now, most of the people we meet we meet virtually every day. We move to the far side of the grassy areas so that there is more than 6 feet between us and them.
it is hard sometimes!

My grandfather had a hotel in Paso Robles. That's where my parents met.

That would be very hard. Our children did not like to stay inside even though we had a large home. Children have a lot of energy they need to work off.

I live in a small town 350-400 people.
I have been going for a walk each day, but staying away from people.
I see some others out walking....but we still have snow on the ground so think wintery walk.
