Yep, the United States topped every country in world by making the world record of the number of COVID-19 cases. We win!
Nothing to be proud of, however.
Our little town up north has three confirmed cases of the virus.
The photo is of my grandkids on Bear Mountain practicing physical distancing from others, yesterday. They played soccer to burn off their abundant energy, and Mommy immediately drove them home.
Hubs and I took an early morning walk together before anyone woke up this morning.
I’m scared silly of this virus, but content being a homebody. Stay in!
Stay smart! Stay safe!

Nice picture. It's just a matter of time before WHO would declare the United States as the new epicenter of the NCOVID-19 pandemic. I wonder if Trump would stop calling it the " Chinese virus " and would start to embark on a really effective and serious program to contain it. Sorry , no, but an expensive wall won't stop it.

Yay! The US is number 1 again! It's a great day to be an American (he said sarcastically). We're up to 47 here in Gainesville. I believe half of them are college kids. Those dummies just couldn't say no to spring break and large crowds of people. Now they're paying for it.

Well we have a huge population so not surprising..It looks like from that pic that some groups are a bit closer together than they need to be, but they might be family...who knows?

The interesting thing is that just under half of all the cases in America are in New York. What’s with that??? Hey, city that never sleeps? SLEEP! It’ll save your lives!

@DianneN — I was watching an Earthcam set up near Times Square the other day, and there’s a bunch of people gathered together, close to one another. I’m thinking, “Is there any part of this you don’t understand????”

I like your "stay alive" Scott. A good reminder that we need to adhere to stay home and social distancing when we need to go out.

I was shocked to see 1,00,000 plus cases in US. Looks like things had already worsened before the lockdowns.
It must be an overburden on the whole medical system.

@DianneN I can understand. Figures are rising here as well, though authorities claim that the rate of rise has reduced.

I was stunned that we rose to #1 and it's pretty scary.
Your grandkids look like they're having fun and I wish I had half the energy kids have.
I'm all for staying home and as far away from catching this as is possible.
Stay safe and healthy!!

@DianneN let's not even talk about Donny
No way this will be gone by Easter and we'll be lucky if we get to enjoy summer activities outside .
I was wondering if you'll be traveling back home or staying in Florida. Guess it's too early to plan

Excellent advice. Like you, I am feeling the fear. Enough that we are delaying the inevitable run to the grocery store. I certainly won't do it on the weekend, and we are okay until Wednesday. But I am dreading going. Last time we went when they opened only to find the store filled with people. I think this next time we will go during their last hour of operation. maybe that will be better.

@DianneN I will be willing to order anything but fresh produce. I am very picky and I do not trust the eyes and touch of someone else to pick appropriate oranges, apples, bananas. Just about anything else is okay. Oh, my wife makes fun of me because I won't allow the clerks to sack my bread. I hate squished bread and too many of them just throw the loaf into a bag with no consideration of what else is in there. I had one clerk bounce a bag of apples once. I made him stop and refund them. I don't want bruised apples. (As I said, I am very picky)

@DianneN Oh, I wipe down the cart when I enter the store (this is an old habit I got into after having a heart valve replacement) Nowadays, I use the plastic bags at the store to lift produce, and put into another bag, the cans and packages, I have been touching but I carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket and use it often. When we get the stuff home, we wipe everything down before putting it away. Somebody here suggesting using bleach to clean the bottoms of our shoes, I think I may start that for when we get home. just a roaster pan with a small amount on the bottom, step in, step out before going inside. Of course, it might be prudent to walk across the yard to clean the beach off the shoes before stepping on the carpet too, or just pull the shoes off to dry outside. I haven't thought that through yet. I'll have a better idea when we actually do go. It is a risk I know, yet, I feel a necessary one, or maybe, I just need to accept that it is too big a risk and not buy the things that others cannot pick for me. sigh, so much to consider.

I check the numbers every morning--it is a terrible way to wake up, but a way to honor those who are sick and dying--and a reality check I think---which tracker do you use?

@DianneN I use JohnHopkins for national and international numbers, and I use the SF Chronicle tracker for local--our local tracker breaks everything down by county and city for the entire bay area--new cases, deaths, hospitalizations, and testing--This virus is in its infancy--I have a couple of epidemiologist friends and they are saying hunker down for a long and bumpy ride

I check daily, too, and use the CDC tracker. Which do you use?
I just looked at the date I wrote this, and it boggles my mind how many deaths we've had since then and how awful that our country is "opening" up while the virus lives on and causing more deaths every day.

@divalounger I also use local sites, but you would not be interested in them.
Yes, this will be a long and bumpy ride, unfortunately.

Yeah. That's scary to know on the numbers.
Hope you're all safe. The picture is nice and both the girls are so adorable. I like those orange pair of shoes of your Granddaughter. Very refreshing in looks.
Stay safe. Let's pray for a better future for all.

Yeah, nothing to be proud of. Your grandkids are looking awesome. If I didn't know better I would think your grandson was older. It's great they burned off their energy with a game of soccer.
How did you celebrate date night last night?
