My Red Ruffle Azaleas

I thought I would post a photo of my azaleas that are blooming to help brighten everyone up. We planted four azaleas several years ago with two each on each side of the steps leading to our front porch.
There were two deep red colors and two of a brighter red. The photo above shows the brighter red color. These azaleas are not the regular azalea. The blooms are rumpled and not a smooth like the regular variety of azaleas. They are also dwarf size bushes but will grow to several feet high if you do not prune them.
I have always called these azaleas "ruffled azaleas" because the blooms look like ruffles. The name of them are red ruffled azaleas or pink ruffled azaleas.
I am enjoying the color in my yard right now. The wisteria is in several trees and around the spot where the original outhouse was located on the property. I am seeing lots of pretty colors right now.
What is blooming in your yard or garden?

Our azaleas are blooming too, and it is a magnificent sight! Most people have azaleas planted in their yards, and so everywhere you go you see beautiful pink, red and white flowers. They are all in full bloom right now. Also, the redbud and whitebud trees are also in full bloom, so that adds to the beautiful scenery. The pretty flowers are a welcome distraction from the negativity going on in the world right now.
I love your photo, it definitely has brightened up my morning!

You are so right in the flower blooms being a nice distraction from the ugly going on right now. I noticed a yellow bloom on a plant in a yard in town here the other day. I'm not sure what it is but it was gorgeous! The plant was about 4 feet high and covered with blooms. It was planted amongst azaleas and was a pop of a different color!

@kareng I've seen a few of those myself, and have no idea what they are, but they're completely covered in yellow flowers! I wonder what kind of plant it is?

we have a few flowers in the front that are currently blooming. The choke cherry tree has its initial white leaves (reddish) out now!

I can imagine how your garden must be looking just now with these and your wisteria.

@allknowing I enjoyed it for a couple of weeks. I guess we can't keep things like that forever, but there is always next year!

Nothing here yet. But I know I do need to add tulips to the garden this fall. I am only seeing 2 that came up.

We used to have tulips in some of the flower beds at the State Capitol when I worked in buildings and grounds. The two head gardeners would always bring flowers for the office worker's desks when they had extras! It was a nice gesture and very much appreciated!

They are very hardy plants. I haven't done anything to these in the last year since I was busy doing other things that couldn't be put off. I usually add to the plants already here every year. I don't think that will happen this year with the quarantine and staying home ordeal.

I am inside most of the time so I don't know what's blooming. I love azaleas; and yours are beautiful. Are you the Karen H Gros that I'm friends with on Facebook? I thought so.

@LindaOHio It would be odd to have two friends with a last name like mine. At our home in Louisiana, we had a lady on the next street over named Karen Gross. We were always getting each other's mail.

My mother in law has a friend with an entire backyard full of these and I had the privilege of getting to see them one spring. I don't think this year I will be able to do that again since last year was impossible. It's always nice to see something awakening.
