Out my window this morning

My last post was mega-long so here’s a short one. I was up at 6.46am. I like figures like that. I logged into myLot then noticed dozens of little birds all lining up for baths. Some were up for communal bathing but a little robin stood back a bit. I wish I had zoomed a little closer but maybe next time. The photo is from a previous bathing frenzy.
Small birds (silver eyes and a robin) in our bird bath

@amitkokiladitya The lockdown hasn't made any difference to them. They are always carefree.

I wonder if I can set up a bird bath for the ones around here. I'll have to look into that.

It wouldn't be hard to make a makeshift one with a shallow basin and a pedestal of some kind to sit it on. Ours really appreciate the water particularly in the summer.

I usually have tubs of water outside for Ally and the birds but I'd love to get them something they could splash around in @JudyEv

@Jessicalynnt Birds are notoriously hard to photograph, The birdbath is good in that respect as individual birds sit and drink or bathe and with a bit of luck you can get a photo. Did you know there is a website called 'Crap Bird Photography' People put up their terrible bird photos. Some of the comments are hilarious - very clever.

Did they bring a glass of ice tea with them too? I have a birdbath, but I don't fill it. Maybe I will now. I have never seen a bird in it, as there are so many water sources around here.

@snowy22315 Water is harder to find over here. For about the last week we have had butcher birds turning up regularly for a drink and a bath.

I think the robin felt a bit intimidated. Here is one that seems to have a bit of an attitude.

@arunima25 The robins like to sit and soak their feet but most other birds are in and out very quickly.

@JudyEv Isn't it amazing how much humans complain and whimper over weather . . .yet nature can get through it just fine? Those little guys are stronger than we think.

They're cute and so tiny. You wouldn't think they'd survive a storm or strong winds.

I think they are what we call silver eyes. Mum didn't like them as they would pick holes in all her fruit. Here is a close up of the silver eye. This one knocked himself out on the window but he recovered quickly.
