Hello everyone, I am a Chinese whose whole life is in Wuhan, China. This is my first piece of words in mylot. I have stayed in my residential quarters for aout 3 months. During these 3 months, my mom got the coronavirus infected and cured after 1 month in hospital, but my 96-year-old grandmother did not make it.
It is really difficult for a man to stay at one place for months with losing relatives or friends by a strong illness. If anyone intrested, I would like to share my story. I will try to tell you what is happening with the coronavirus in Wuhan, China everyday as well. If you have any question for me, just ask. I will try my best to answer.
I wanna to be a comforter. Because I have been comforted by others.

My first question is the medication given to your mother.

Thanks for the fastest reply in my mylot life. Fully understand why you ask this. She got in to the hospital at Jan.18 and left at Feb.16. After that, she lives in her own apartment alone. At her time in hospital, the treatment is totally "support treatment", such as oxygen mask all the time, antipyretic treatment, immunoglobulin, albumin etc. Nothing special. Her medical indicators almost leted her go to ICU. The most important indicator her doctor told me is Blood oxygen index. The only cure for it is your body's own immune system.

@Comforter thank you for the detailed response. It's nice to hear stories of recovered patients. Have you been tested yourself for the infection?

@Alexandoy I have not been tested yet because there is no abnormality in the body. After my mom went to hospltal, I was asked to be isolated for 14 days.

Welcome to Mylot :) So sorry to hear about your grandma - may her soul rest I peace. Very well done on surviving the 3-month lockdown. We're only on day 11 and I'm already losing the will to live.

@Comforter You're most welcome :) Thanks for your words of encouraging words. Your guidelines are very good and that's what we're trying to exercise. I think going forward, we do have to carry on with the guidelines to ensure that we don't find ourselves in the same situation in the future.
My husband and I live in a gated community and never leave the house, except to go jogging around the complex. Hope you too had a Happy Easter. And yes, the best thing is to BELIEVE and the universe will listen. We only get what we put out.

@Comforter Oh, don't worry about me - I understand ALL the guidelines and precautionary measures loud and clear. Usually, when we jog around our housing estate, it's just me and my husband, anyway, so we're safe :) We don't all go out all at the same time.

@Lushlala That's standard choice. I can add one advice. If you find a coronavirus infecter inside your gated community, no matter how far, you must stop jogging. This is also standard here in Wuhan, China.

Apart from the stories coming out of media, including of Dr. Li, Do you have any other version? So far it is labeled as China Virus. Do you have guts to speak the truth?

Thanks for your quick reply. I am not sure about who "Dr. Li" is. I believe you will find the answer if you spend a little time on the international news. WHO officer has already answerd it is not right to name it as China Virus or Wuhan Virus. I suppose it is better for us to wait preofessional people to define it when the research done. Emotionally, I am not a fan to name it as Wuhan Virus because I am a Wuhan man. I believe you can understand it. However, I have a open and peaceful mind on it. If it is defined as China/Wuhan Virus, I will accept it. Anyway, mankind's battle with the coronavirus is not over, let's focus on how we can win it is a better choice. What do you think?

@stapllotik Nice to meet you again. The answer of your question is a little complicated. At day one, just a few normal way. two days later, doc told me hormone is needed but my mom is a Healthy carriers of hepatitis B, the hormone has a large chance to activate hepatitis. So doc will use some medicine on hepatitis before antipyretic. Doc told me that hormone is not a good thing. Fever is liking a big fight between virus and immunity and no one can win or stop. Hormone makes immunity back off. Something like this. I wish that you have your answer.

Thanks for you reply. It is ture but not total normal. The lockdown of Wuhan city is partly lifted on Apr. 8th. The whole city is defined by blocks, such as a store, a hospital, a residential quarter etc. Now everybody has a QR code in cell phone. We must let security scan it when we enter or leave a block. If the QR code is green, you can come and go. If yellow, not allow. If red, you will be needed to go to hospital. All business premises are remined shutted down.

@Janet357 sort of. the background logic is trace your movent and update. For example, you went to a hospital or a friend's huose last morning 9:30- 10:30, if anyone in these places at this time zone got confirmed to coronavirus, your QR code in your cellphone will change from green to yellow to let you and everybady know you have a risk, then you can not go to many places to lower other's risk. You may have a test. if the test confirmed you are positive, your QR will ture to red. that means gov will contact you very soon and send you to hospital.

Welcome to myLot! I'm sure that many people will be interested to hear your story and a personal account from Wuhan. Even though it is a large and important city (both geographically and historically), I don't think that many people in the West had heard of Wuhan before this coronavirus outbreak.

@Comforter Yes, I can see all of the rest of the discussion and I have read the responses and your comments with interest. Your English is already very good, it seems, but practice is always a good thing!
We understand that the virus seems to have originated in bats and then jumped to pangolins where it mutated to be able to infect and be transmitted by humans. I think that most people in the West are amazed and disgusted that people would want to eat such animals as a delicacy - let alone keep them and sell them alive in 'wet markets': is such a thing common in China?

@owlwings Yes, practice is always a good thing. Typing with plenty of time can not let you see my English skills, believe me, haha
Back to your serious question. Firstly I show your my background then directly answer. I was born in Wuhan at 1981, then kindgarden to university -- all in Wuhan, then work, get married, be a father -- all in Wuhan. But I have been to many countries. Most are for business. I am a power plant engineer. I know very well about my city. We are never eating bats. This kind of things really makes me sick, even typing them out.
Secondly, I know my words are subjective and I have no idea for me to proof myself. If you want a objective answer, ask one of your friend who has been to Wuhan. Better if he or she stay for a while, not a quick travel.
Thirdly, I never worry about the misunderstanding. There are about 12 million people here in Wuhan. Most of them are not born here. Many foreigners here. So I believe that time will tell, right?

Thanks for your quick reply and kind words. Really comfert my heart. From my point of view, the government shows no limits on it. I and my friends can talk about the situation freely everywhere. I have been in Windsor, Connecticut for business in 2008. I have some friends and workmates in USA. I understand the situation there and wish you and your family happy and healthy everyday.

Thanks for your kind words. It is really a hard time for me and I have seen many harder ones here in Wuhan. Wish you and your family happy and healthy everyday and every thing there in South Africa is better and better.
Back to your questions. I think the situation here in China is stable and positive. People get to work. Country is rebooting. I think the most important thing is for a country to establish a system to defend. Becasue we know nothing on many angles of the virus and still no confirmed medicine for it. Many are on-going testing. So a country needs to spend very little time to build a whole system. It will let people get isolated and living support, to let logistic of food and medical goods still functional, to let suitable people to go out to serve, to set up a rule for police and security to check cars and people in every interfaces, to treat illness which is not coronavirus etc. too many to tell. I will try to share them piece by piece daily. If intrested, you can follow. Sorry for my bad English.

my mom got sick at jan.15, first time to hospital alone just nornal medicine. jan 18 was the second time. went with her. after ct scan, doctor said maybe corona, need to stay in hospital. then i came back to take her staff to hospital and doctor let me take a soft goodbye with her. i ask why. doctor said because maybe i cant see her until she is cured. i thank that doc and take two photos for mom and dont let her know incase she scared. after two days, doc told me her situation is very bad, and prepare to transfer her to icu anytime. only one indicator is not bad enough for the transfer.
for those bad memory, i mean, give me a break.

What has helped you survive the isolation during lockdown?
@Comforter (173)

13 Apr 20
Nice to meet you and thanks for your reply. During the hardest time of lockdown, all residential quarters in Wuhan (totally more than 8 thousand) are not allowed in and out except medical, police and all needed by anti-coronavirus fight. Some are working in gov for orgnise the necessary logistic(food and medical etc.) on line. Some are volunteers to pack and deliver the food from supermarket to every home. All stores including supermarket are not allowed for any individual to come in and buy anything, no matter you are a police chief officer or some kind of big boss in gov.
After Apr. 8, people are allowed to go in and out residential quarters with QR code in cellphone. If the code is green, free to come and go. If yellow, not allow. If red, hospital.
Too many to tell. I will try to share it everyday. Thanks for your care and ask.

Glad to hear you made it through. You went through a pretty serious lockdown as well didnt you?As in you were not allowed to go shopping for your food and stuff? Its weird to hear that everyone there has qr codes some goverments cant even enforce a no gathering rule or provide health workers with the things they need.China builds 2 hospitals=10 days America puts up a bunch of tents was going to take 5 days.It really does sound more organized especially when you consider it was the first to have to deal with it ever and having no examples to go off.

Thank you for your deeper explaination. What you said, total truth. The two great new hospital are built just near my mom's apartment. When hospital told me that I can't see my mother again if she doesn't heal and make sure I am prepared 7X24 to hospital if I have a fever, I totally collapsed.
However, I will never largh at any other country on the differences you just mentioned. I believe everyone is trying his/her best to fight coronavirus. Others are better doesn't mean I should be blamed. Back to the QR code. It is amazing, right? I don't know how to put a picture in my discuss, I will give you a introduction when I can. Nice to meet you.
