If You’ve Never Been to New York City

This is a photo of Madison Avenue in New York City in Manhattan.
A sister-in-law took the photo on Saturday afternoon and texted it to me. She is staying with a friend in Pennsylvania, but needed to pick up her mail.
Madison Avenue was my favorite street for shopping, (well, 5th Avenue, too) and I was happy to see people staying at home.
To me, staying at home and physical distancing works to keep the virus from spreading. Essential workers should be the only ones out and about. Shopping for food and pharmacy visits are fine if you wear a mask, gloves, and physically distance.
As you doing your part or are you a nonbeliever?

That's so strange to see NYC so deserted. I haven't panicked, but I'm definitely a believer. It's the ones who aren't following protection plans that hurt the rest of us.

@DianneN We're a small rural county with just a few cases, but it only takes one person to spread it. I'm still amazed at the people who aren't wearing masks or gloves.

@1creekgirl Exactly! I live in a building amongst covidiots who party daily on our little beach and don’t keep physical distancing. No masks either.
We plan to escape for our lives in two weeks back to Connecticut.
We decided to drive straight through from here (FL) rather than fly.

We’re staying home. I haven’t left my property in 3 weeks and my husband and son haven’t in a month.

I have been to New York City about 5 or 6 times. It is pretty shocking to see Madison Ave almost empty. I am doing social distancing.

That’s is really weird to see it like that. I have been there a couple of years ago and only saw that place full of people going around. Only saw that like that early in the morning perhaps. Stay safe there while the it is not safe to really go out.

We are doing our part for sure! It is bizarre to see how empty it is everywhere - but right now I see that as a good thing. I am not too happy about seeing all the protests I see on the news . . . and about the reopening of some beaches (the county above us opened up their beaches . . . I just have to wonder how many covidiots from here went up there this weekend). We'll have to see what all the numbers will be from all this in the next 2-3 weeks .

How strange to see New York "empty", I have been several times in New York and the streets were crowded all the time. I am a believer, I stay at home, I protect myself and I protect the others too. I have seen a bunch of stupid nonbeliever protesting in Denver in a video.

@DianneN I was looking at the photos taken by the drones of the police in Milan. Not even the 15th of August when all "Milanesi" are vacationing has ever been so empty. Beautiful! Piazza Duomo without people and tourists looks beautiful.

It does look so strange to me, but makes me happy to see it like that.
I know you are a believer.
Yes, there are way too many protesters and covidiots all over the USA. They are endangering all our lives.
I’m living with many right here in our condo, too.

My friend Gene who lives on the upper east side tells me it is like a ghost town each time she takes her dog out for a walk! I agree with her that Cuomo has been doing a super job!
I worked at The Brass Rail on 47th & 7th for years and my favorite restaurant in the WORLD in is Marchi's on the lower east side!

I can relate to that. Here is an image of a place somewhere near Empire State Building that I took in June 2010.
I lived in Jersey City and traveled via Ferry service to NY city.
How can I forget the crowds, the restaurant and the areas full of activities.
And alas what a grave situation now.
It would take time to heal and for things to come back to normal.

I have had more pictures too. I wanted to visit the Empire State Building but it was so costly fare for me.
I however visited Madame Tussads. It was a memorable visit.

@DianneN You will be home before me There is no way we could drive straight through, I have thought about flying and shipping our car home but I think I will just stay put for now, it is safe in our neighborhood. I am shooting for the end of May. How are conditions in Fairfield now? MIddlesex County still is pretty safe and Kasey and the boys live in Tolland County.

@BelleStarr It’s better in Connecticut and in my town.
I received an email from JetBlue changing our flight time for a later time on June 5th. A few days later they canceled all flights into NY including Westchester airport, but offered to find another airport for us. No way! We were planning on canceling anyway. Too germy for us.
We canceled our car transport service.
My brother drove straight through last month. We won’t stay in a hotel either, so we don’t have much choice. If we do get tired, we will nap in the car during daylight hours for safety reasons.

I’m happy to hear that!
All beaches are closed in Palm Beach County. Our condo has its own little beach when the tide is out, but that should not be used.
Unfortunately, we have several covidiots living here, so we’re driving straight home to Connecticut two weeks from today to get away from them.

Yes, Manhattan rammed a lot of skyscrapers on that island.
Next week we will be on the road to our other house. Our food supply should get us through the week.
My husband is outside right now closing up and covering our extra car right now.

@LowRiderX This is getting rather annoying, but I’m all for staying safe.
Our son with grocery shop for us before we return.
The drive will take 24 hours without stopping, but we will definitely have to stop for gas and bathrooms. I’m pretty sure we will need to sleep in the car in safe places.

Yes, I know you are leaving soon, how long will the trip take, how many hours do you need to arrive?
