A table made of books

In an old magazine I found a photo of a table made of books. As you can see on the photo they used a pile of books instead of legs. They bought an old table at a garage sale, and they used the tabletop from that table.
I think my husband would love the idea. Our table is full of (my) books and he would probably like the idea of a neat pile of books under the tabletop...instead of large books piles ON the table. But you have to glue the books together in order to create the table, and I would probably regret that. What if I suddenly wanted to re-read one of the books in the middle of the leg
I guess I could use books that I definitely don't want to read or re-read, but I donated most of them. Or maybe I could use my husband's books
What do think of the table made of books? Have you seen other things made of old books?

hmm what about using something else, other material, in the shape of books, make it look like an actual pile of books and make this table. that would be smarter idea

That would be a good idea - and I wouldn't have to worry about which books to use I am pretty sure that my husband wouldn't let me use his books....and I don't want to use my own

That is true We have many books he has never read. He bought them and he says that he is going to read them one day, but he hasn't even touched the books.

@Porcospino Same as my husband, I have to remind him that it's 40 years that he says "one day".

@LadyDuck My husband often buys books and he never says no if someone asks him if he wants to receive some of their old books. He is definitely not going to run out of things to read

I could NEVER glue any of my books, even those that I will never read again. Someone might want to read it. But the table is nice.

That is part I don't like about it. I don't want to glue my books either. I am sure that I would regret that.

@Porcospino I´m sure that we could build a lower table with unglued books.

It looks nice, but we can't read the books if we glue them together, and I want to be able to read the books. Aside from that I like the idea.

@paigea I really like that idea It looks great. We need another bookcase. The one we have is full. Maybe my husband will make one when he has more time.

@Porcospino Here is a picture of the "floating" book cases, Hubby made.
Each bottom book is glued to a metal shelf. He got the books he was going to glue at the thrift shop

I like the look of it. It surely is a decorative piece but I won't personally go for it. It just doesn't look durable for me. I go for both beauty and function.

That makes sense. Beauty and function are both important I don't plan on making a table like the one on the photo, but I also like the look of it.

I like the table, but I don't want to glue the books together....unless the books aren't my own

I also think it is cool. I enjoyed reading the description of the table, and I am glad that they also included a phpto.

Yes, it is better than using our own books Or maybe I could buy some books in a language that none of us are able to read anyway

I also think it is cute. It is very different from other tables and I like that.

Yes, the stability could be a problem. I think it looks nice, but I don't think I am going to make my own.
