A 28 year old ebola patient escaped from the treatment clinic at DRC in Africa; thus causing a panic of the spread of Ebola. This situation raised questions regarding the WHO guidelines and monitoring mechanism for communicable deseases. It is evident that treatment facilities should be secure and professionally managed. I also believe it would be ideal to offer counseling to address fear and emotional support for patients. What would be ideal approaches? to improve control of Ebola or other similar desease?

The main reason I know of why they escape is because of the hospital bill that they need to pay if they stay longer. But agree there should be other ways to handle cases such as this.

@sharon6345 That's what they do, but there are hospitals who won't allow them to get out without settling the bill so they just escape. But those cases are mostly not contagious, just expensive.

This is a sad reality of poverty in most developing countries. This calls for governments to subsidize health and allocate a separate fund for communicable deseases.

@sharon6345 I agree. The logical approach would be to ensure getting? treatment and then raise my financial concerns to the government and world at large afterwards.

How foolish of him.

Escaping was definitely a dangerous choice and could be attributed to lack of knowledge about the Ebola. It is therefore important to empower the public at village level about public health threads.

It is highly possible hence the need for WHO to improve the monitoring guidelines especially in developing countries like DRC.

This addressed? the recent incident of a patient who escaped from the clinic at DRC. My concern was an additional scare on the current spread of covid-19.
