What's the quickest way to learn using chopsticks?

I've been learning to use chopsticks since 2 days ago. I asked my husband to teach me, but he always said, "keep on practicing, you've been doing good job".
I watched him using the chopsticks, and started to pick up everything with chopsticks. But still I'm not satisfied. I still often drop the things that I try to pick up with the chopsticks. I don't know what else I can do. I guess I'm a very bad learner, or it's my husband who is a bad teacher.
But I don't want to give up. I really wish I can be an expert in using chopsticks soon.

You will learn if you keep on using it. Before you know it you will get used to it and it comes naturally.

Lol. That's true. That's the quickest way, though. But I don't want to give up. ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

I found it hard in the beginning, but I used to visit a Japanese woman who insisted that we eat her food with chopsticks instead of a knife and fork. I had to learn how to use the chopsticks if I wanted something to eat ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

LOL. I heard that japanese people are very disciplined to protect their culture. We need to follow them in order to succeed. ![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

You need to have at least 2/3 of the chopstick in front of your fingers. Most Westerners "choke" chopsticks.
Take one and anchor it between your fourth finger and the base of your thumb. That one will not move. Take the other and hold it between the end of your thumb and ends of your index and middle finger, like you are using a pencil. That is the one that moves. Practice moving that one and connecting with the tip of the anchored one. You should have about an inch (2.5 cm) between the ends.

I learned this from my co-workers when I first came to Japan.

We have a lot of chopsticks here but I don´t use them. My hubby and son know how to eat with the chopsticks. I tried eating with chopsticks before but it just made me more hungry as I didn´t know how and was not patient enough to practice. I prefer a fork and a knife or with a spoon when eating.

I saw my husband eating his noodles with chopsticks, and I wanted to follow him. I want us to eat using chopsticks together. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)
