It is hard to find a song that makes me sad, because (and I have touched on this before) I seek out music that understands what I am feeling rather than music that makes me feel a certain way. If I can tell a song will leave me depressed before it even gets all the way through, I will stop it before it finishes.
As such, my answer will probably change with time, but the closest I could find to match the "makes you sad" criteria is "John Deere Green," which was probably Joe Diffie's biggest hit.
We sadly lost Joe Diffie at last month's end due to complications from COVID-19. I grew up listening to his songs on the radio of our white 1988 model Plymouth Voyager minivan (that I affectionately named "Vanna White" as a 4-year-old). The songs I was introduced to on the radio of that car remain heavy favorites to this day and are all part of a playlist I have casually named, "Vanna White's Radio."
Though "John Deere Green" is not my favorite Joe Diffie song, it evokes a certain mood -- nostalgia, permanence, and flashing back to a simpler, more innocent time, the shades of which will always be there ("there ain't no paint in the world that will cover it, the heart keeps showing through...").
Those are the feelings that personify Joe Diffie's music for me. They come through in this song - as his most iconic - especially and it makes me sad that we lost him before his time.

So, is there any song that makes you sad (in any way, for any reason)?

I would not know where to start with a list like that, I am often asked what is my favourite song but I like so many it is hard to choose one.

@lazydaizee I know what you mean! I have categories in which literally hundreds of answers would fit as well. I have been able to narrow my all-time favorite song down to one, however, I do not have a 2nd favorite (too many to choose from)...
