Peek A Moo!

As some of you may know, the meadow at the bottom of our garden used to be rented out to our local animal sanctuary and we had cattle out there from April through to about October. It was lovely seeing the same cattle return year after year. However, from last year, the meadow is owned by a beef farmer and so the cattle we see there are gone within four to six months to end up on somebody's dinner plate. I like to take photographs of them so that at least somebody in their short lives will remember then. I make a fuss of them so that they have at least a few months of human kindness. From watching the animal sanctuary cattle I realised that they're not so very different from humans. They form friendships, they play, they show love and kindness. For the last couple of years, I've been a vegan as I could no longer eat something that's not so very far from a human. As you can see from this photo, one of the cattle was playing peek a boo with me through the brambles! I found that he likes blinking at me when I blink at him and he always comes to 'talk' to me whenever I'm nearby. Many of the others take quite a while to accept that I'm not there to take them away from their friends or herd them up into trucks but I've really got to be a pal to this guy.

I got a slow Internet connection. So I wondered what your title 'Pee ka moo' meant... I realized it when the thumbnail was fully downloaded. hehehe.

I think all animals have a personality if and when you get to know them.

Lovely picture. I spent a week on a farm once where they kept cows. I really enjoyed watching them especially the young ones.
